Three Questions for Santa Claus

High-performance bagging, robot palletizing and sled loading: our innovative VeloBag X-MAS system is designed for the efficient bagging of Christmas presents.
The CEO of our customer Santa Claus Ltd. explains in an interview why this development is necessary for them:

Which bagging issues?

Dear Saint Nick, you approached us with a bagging issue – could you tell us why?
We are an internationally renowned and popular non-profit organization in the field of seasonal gift distribution. We are constantly growing and especially this holiday season, my experienced team and I anticipate a very high volume of orders. Have you ever wrapped and bagged two billion gifts? That requires an extremely reliable, high-performance facility tailored to our needs. Any drop in performance or unplanned downtime, leading to delayed deliveries, would be absolutely unacceptable to our ”end customers.”

What exactly were your requirements?

During the winter months, the schedule is tight. The elves and I have known for a while that manual bagging simply cannot deliver the performance we need to bag bulk goods of various sizes in the shortest possible time. For efficiency reasons, we also wanted to switch to larger bags (FIBCs). Sled loading in the frosty outdoor temperatures in our latitude posed an additional challenge for us. That’s why we turned to Greif-Velox. The Easter bunny, who had already dealt with the company in business, gave me a tip while we were playing golf together on Easter Island.

What was the result?

We’re thrilled with how quickly the Greif-Velox team in Lübeck understood our problem and the urgency of our request-- they immediately began with the planning. The result is the VeloBag X-MAS, capable of bagging up to 12 FIBCs per hour. The additional conveyor and robot palletizing equipment will support us beautifully in loading gifts onto the sleds for this year’s Christmas festivities. I believe there may even be an extra surprise for the Greif-Velox employees this year :-)

Company information

Greif-Velox Maschinenfabrik GmbH
Greif-Velox Maschinenfabrik GmbH
GREIF-VELOX is one of the most tradition-rich companies in the field of industrial bagging, filling and palletising technology. Its roots date back to the year 1100, when monks founded the Greifenmühle mill in Klützow, Pomerania – an origin from which centuries of practical expertise in handling bulk materials and efficient packaging processes have developed. Building on this experience, Ernst Mahlkuch, whose family had owned the Greifenmühle since 1734, founded GREIF-WERKE in 1938. Since then, the company has been developing and implementing high-performance bagging machines and filling systems for industrial applications. After 1945, GREIF-VELOX emerged from this foundation in Lübeck, Germany – today with more than 150 experts and a clear focus on innovative, efficient and reliable packaging solutions. GREIF-VELOX stands for customised system concepts that are precisely tailored to the product, process and production environment. These individual solutions not only increase production quality and system performance, but also create measurable competitive advantages. On request, GREIF-VELOX supplies complete full-line systems from a single source, including bagging, filling, conveying technology, robotic palletising and load securing. In addition to its customised Custom Line solutions, GREIF-VELOX offers the Essential Line: standardised, field-proven machine concepts for typical applications in bulk solids and liquid filling. The Essential Line reduces engineering effort, shortens delivery times and provides an economical entry point into proven GREIF-VELOX technology – without compromising on quality, reliability or industrial practicality.
