Gustav Eirich Award The Gustav Eirich Award is presented for the three best dissertations (Ph.D. theses) or equivalent work in the field of refractories that have been completed no longer than two years ago. The 2023 Gustav Eirich Award will be presented during the “Unified International Technical Conference on Refractories (UNITECR) - 18th Biennial Worldwide Congress on Refractories” in September 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany. We serve various industries and customers ask us to perform all sorts of application trials in our test lab. Fertilizers, concrete, lithium-ion batteries, detergents, spices, coffee, protein powders - you name it. Recently we had a sweet application in our lab: frozen apple slices were defrosted, then mixed with cinnamon and sugar in our 11 ft3 jacketed paddle ribbon blender to make a tasty apple pie filling. Yum. The customer was very pleased with the test results.

A refractory company in Taiwan decides to use mixing technology from EIRICH for the preparation of unshaped refractory mixes. There are a large number of companies worldwide that manufacture refractory products and offer kiln linings, e.g. for the production of aluminum, iron and steel, glass, ceramics or cement. Standards distinguish between "shaped products" (bricks) and "unshaped products" (which include castables and also ramming mixes or plastic mixes). Brick production has been steadily declining for decades, while unshaped refractory mixes production is on the rise. And the mixes are becoming more and more demanding. EIRICH seminar events “Practical Know-How – Mixing, Granulating, Kneading and Dispersing” planned to restart in June 2021 In many industries, the procedural steps of mixing, granulating, kneading, and dispersing represent the quality-defining stage in production. EIRICH offers free one-day training events at the company’s headquarters in Hardheim four times a year. These seminars have been very popular for years, but since last autumn all scheduled events have had to be canceled due to the impact of Covid-19. New dates have now been planned to start from June 24, 2021, and it is already possible to register online at universities teach the basic theory of dynamic mixers (units with moving mixing elements and/or moving containers), they do not cover practical aspects.
