Integrated intelligent explosion protection for bulk solids
In the bulk solids processing industry, the safe operation of plants is a top priority. Operators can take a whole range of measures to minimise the risk and impact of explosions. From preventive measures such as spark detection to passive measures such as bursting discs to active systems such as explosion suppression. It is crucial that the solutions work together as a whole within the framework of a customised concept and communicate with each other as intelligent systems. The experts from IEP Technologies explain how their latest development, the eSuppressor, ensures intelligent explosion protection throughout. Intelligent explosion protection begins with prevention Spark detection is a complex method of preventing fires and explosions. The principle starts directly at the ignition sources - even before a fire or explosion has occurred. Within a millisecond, the spark detector from IEP Technologies detects sparks and automatically sets a process chain in motion: an extinguishing unit extinguishes sparks and glowing particles with a small amount of water. This process is controlled and monitored by the signal router. Meanwhile, the control

Expanding the application possibilities of passive isolation valves Effective protection for industrial plants: putting a stop to incipient explosions in the process.
Expanding the application possibilities of passive isolation valves
Effective protection for industrial plants: putting a stop to incipient explosions in the process. Constructive explosion protection through pressure relief - even flameless if required - is an essential factor in minimising the risk of secondary explosions and flame jet ignitions between two or more process vessels connected by piping. For this purpose, IEP Technologies, the safety experts of the HOERBIGER Group, has developed the IsoFlap check valve. The passive decoupling valve enables effective, passive explosion decoupling for plants with combustible dusts to prevent explosion propagation into upstream plant areas. The protection system fulfils the requirements of DIN EN 16447 and can be ordered and delivered immediately in various sizes between DN 100 and DN 1000. Up to DN 200, the IsoFlap valves are also certified for St 2 and metallic dusts. The IsoFlap and IsoFlap-M both have a durable carbon steel valve body and a flap blade of high quality stainless steel alloy. The valve is designed to withstand high maximum reduced explosion pressures (Pred) listed

Cost-optimised Extraction and Filtration of combustible Dust
Cost-optimised Extraction and Filtration of combustible Dust
ULT’s extraction and filtration system, the ASD 300 Ex was developed for the removal of explosive dusts. It is a stationary unit for combustible dusts compliant with dust explosion category St.1. The dust extractor, based on the cartridge filtration principle, provides fully automatic filter cleaning via a compressed air multi-jet nozzle, whereby filtered materials are collected in a dust case (15 litres drum) for nearly contamination free disposal. An ideally configured filter concept helps users to save costs in the medium term, as maintenance efforts for the ASD 300 Ex are extremely low. Polyester fleece filter cartridges of category C/BIA in combination with an additional H13 filter are utilised for sustainable surface filtration. The extraction unit with stepless flow rate control of up to 450 m³/h and serial loaded filter indicator provides a max. vacuum of 22,000 Pa. Users may chose an outlet air mode via ventilation grating or respective air stubs.
