Blocked silos? We let your bulk flow. With our mobile silo cleaning systems - without entry.

BUCHEN-ICS is one of the leading international providers of catalyst handling, silo cleaning, as well as chemical cleaning and decontamination.

The silo cleaning service provided by BUCHEN-ICS is a highly specialized service for contaminated and clogged bulk material containers, which is performed without the need for personnel entry. Regardless of the type of bulk material - whether it’s coal, fertilizer, gypsum, cement, grain, animal feed, salt, or clay - it eventually accumulates on the container walls or clumps together. This contamination affects the container and reduces material flow and available storage capacity.

Using the mobile silo cleaning systems BinDrill®, BinWhip®, and Cardox®, BUCHEN experts eliminate any form of contamination in silos up to 45 meters deep, without having to enter the containers and without potentially contaminating the bulk material.

The cleaning equipment for mobile silo cleaning is antistatic, spark-proof, and meets even the strict safety standards and hygiene regulations of the chemical and food industries. The modular design of the equipment allows for quick installation on the container and adaptation to individual container sizes. Personnel entry into the silo is never necessary during the cleaning.

At BUCHEN-ICS, you benefit from state-of-the-art technologies and our 45 years of experience in turnaround and projects.

Case study: no-entry silo cleaning for soybean storage operator
A leading company in the food industry from Europe presented our BUCHEN-ICS team from Rotterdam with a persistent challenge in their soybean storage facility in South Holland. 1500 m³ of beans stuck Over the past few years, the operation has been struggling with continuous blockage issues in its soybean silo, where approximately 1500 m³ of beans remained immobile despite numerous attempts at solutions. This blockade significantly affected operational processes and had a negative impact on productivity and profitability. When our team took on this project, it was estimated that the silo had reached a blockage level of 100% over several years. Our experts recognized the urgency and complexity of the challenge and were determined to find a solution using the best possible method. The technologies BinDrill and Cardox Over several shifts, the BinDrill technology was used to carefully drill through the compressed soybeans from the top of the silo. This process aimed to create passages within the blockade and loosen the material. Now we employed the powerful Cardox system. This technology rapidly releases liquid carbon dioxide (CO2), breaking

Elevating productivity through non-entry silo cleaning
BUCHEN-ICS UK used their revolutionary non-entry technology to clean and clear silos, including the furnace hopper, quickly and safely. A UK glass manufacturing facility recognized the need for a comprehensive modernization project to enhance productivity. This involved thorough site preparation, including cleaning multiple silos and completely removing stored products, notably the furnace hopper. The challenge was not only the limited timeframe but also ensuring the highest safety standards. BUCHEN-ICS UK was entrusted with this challenging task. Our team intervened with their revolutionary non-entry technology, highlighting their expertise beyond silo cleaning. Our solution Facing tight timelines and prioritizing safety, BUCHEN-ICS UK developed a strategic plan. Simultaneous work on multiple silos was organized to ensure seamless progression in the construction handover program. To meet project demands, three complete sets of non-man-entry silo cleaning BinWhip® equipment were deployed, along with three highly qualified technician teams. This strategy enabled BUCHEN-ICS UK not only to meet but

Silo cleaning expertise in emergency situation in Germany
BUCHEN-ICS, equipped with specialized silo cleaning BinDrill® machinery, recently demonstrated the prowess of this technology in a critical scenario—a rapid-response silo cleaning operation following a fiery incident in northern Germany. Last year, a silo in northern Germany containing approximately 80 tons of rapeseed succumbed to a devastating fire, demanding immediate attention. To avert potential explosion risks, the local fire department employed a nitrogen gas flooding strategy. Once the fire was subdued, the challenging task of silo cleaning while prioritizing safety emerged. Seeking expertise, the silo owner reached out to BUCHEN-ICS, known for its proficiency in nitrogen atmosphere operations and specialized silo cleaning. Responding swiftly, our team of experts mobilized on-site, prepared to address the emergency around the clock. The tailored solution for our client involved a multi-faceted approach: Multi-faceted solution: # BinDrill® system application: Utilizing our advanced silo cleaning equipment, we deployed the BinDrill® system to eliminate blockages from the silo outlets. This facilitated the efficient drainage of burnt material through the silo’s conveying system. Notably,

Cardox: silo blockage clearing system A controlled carbon dioxide explosion with pressures up to 3000 Bar breaks compacted material in silos and storage vessels
Cardox: silo blockage clearing system
A controlled carbon dioxide explosion with pressures up to 3000 Bar breaks compacted material in silos and storage vessels Our Cardox® system breaks up compacted material in storage vessels by suddenly releasing liquid carbon dioxide. This method uses high strength, reusable steel tubes filled with liquid carbon dioxide (CO2). This is activated by a small electric charge causing it to expand and create a powerful force of up to 3,000 bar. Several tonnes of material can be detached with a single detonation. The Cardox® system can even be used while production continues as normal if the vessels have been fitted out with permanent tube sockets.
