Gericke Dense Phase Conveyors

Can pneumatic conveying be gentle and energy efficient?

The Gericke dense phase pneumatic conveying systems are designed to deliver exceptional bulk transport performance while preserving the integrity of sensitive materials.
Dense phase pneumatic conveying systems are designed to deliver exceptional bulk transport performance while preserving the integrity of sensitive materials. The Swiss Gericke Group is a leader in this technology, integrating dedicated controllers to simplify integration and optimise the processes while conserving energy.

Dense phase conveying systems are designed for applications where product quality is paramount. Whether handling powders, granules, flakes, or pellets, Gericke’s dense phase conveying technology ensures minimal changes in bulk density and particle size distribution, while also reducing the risk of demixing. This makes them ideal for industries requiring gentle handling of fragile or blended materials.

A key advantage of the system lies in its use of pressure vessels without rotating parts. This significantly reduces maintenance requirements and eliminates the risk of metal contamination. The systems are completely dust-tight, offering a clean and safe solution with no leakage—unlike rotary valve systems used in dilute phase conveying. Operating at pressures of up to 6 barg, they enable high solids loading and low gas consumption. This translates into energy efficiency and reduced operational costs.

Gericke’s dense phase systems are capable of conveying materials over distances of up to 500 metres and at capacities reaching 150 m³/h. They are available in carbon steel or stainless steel, with vessel volumes ranging from 20 to 5,200 litres, and comply with PED 2014/68/EC, ASME, and GB 150 standards. This flexibility makes them suitable for a wide range of industries, including food, chemical, and raw material processing.

The systems support a variety of applications, from gentle transfer of spray-dried products to demixing-free transport from mixers to filling lines, and even direct reactor loading. They also accommodate batch weighing, high-capacity handling, inert gas conveying, and gentle unloading from trucks or railcars.

Gericke offers three conveying modes tailored to specific needs: the “DenseFlow” PHF system for continuous layer transport at moderate gas velocities, the “PulseFlow” PTA system for pulsed plug conveying at low velocities, and the “PulseLine” PTA PL system, which enhances long-distance conveying with external air injectors for maximum process safety.

With the addition of the Gericke GUC -C controllers, these systems are not only powerful but also user-friendly, offering intuitive operation, precise control and link to SCADA systems.

Conveying tests with original products and industrial performance in one of our test centers provide results that are helpful for planning.

Chopping with the right shredder or screen
With the latest generation of nibblers, the Gericke GNB, a new release of screens has also been added to the portfolio. Gericke has many years of experience with a wide variety of milling machines and granulators which are sold under the name “nibbler”. Based on this knowledge, Gericke’s experts are able to select shredders or screens according to the customer’s requirements. With the latest generation of nibblers, the Gericke GNB, a new release of screens has also been added to the portfolio. A Gericke nibbler crushes lumps, agglomerates, filter cakes, rework or frozen raw materials into processable grain sizes. The selection of the screen plays a role in efficiency. When crushing brittle products with the aim of keeping the fines content low, different refining inserts are used than for tough, greasy or moist products, which could tend to clog the screen. An output product from a belt dryer, for example, is often brittle and fragile, but also hygroscopic. Many customers aim to minimise the number of fines when shredding the product to achieve a high yield. The screen

Loss-in-Weight Feeders: PLC or Dedicated Control Solutions? The Gericke Universal Controller GUC-F stands out compared to integrated PLC solutions and other separate weighing electronics.
Loss-in-Weight Feeders: PLC or Dedicated Control Solutions?
The Gericke Universal Controller GUC-F stands out compared to integrated PLC solutions and other separate weighing electronics. In the realm of bulk handling applications, the choice of feeding and dosing technology is crucial for ensuring efficiency and accuracy. This article explores why the Gericke Universal Controller GUC-F stands out compared to integrated PLC solutions and other separate weighing electronics. The Gericke GUC-F offers a comprehensive approach to feeding and dosing processes. Unlike PLC solutions, which require separate weighing electronics and programming, the GUC-F combines all necessary components into a single package. This integration simplifies the process setup and enhances overall performance. When comparing GUC-F to other solutions, several key differences emerge. GUC-F provides extensive service and support for all types of bulk handling applications, whereas PLC solutions lack a dedicated service team for process, dosing, and feeding issues. Additionally, GUC-F excels in the mechanical integration of feeding, dosing, and weighing technology. Most feeders are

The Gericke Nibbler GNB calibrates particles and agglomerates
The latest generation of Gericke GNB nibblers creates more value for users. The focus is on expanding process applications while reducing cleaning time and extending the service life of the nibbler screen. Gericke has long experience in grinding and calibrating agglomerates and bulk solids. The Gericke Nibbler GNB has been used successfully in the bulk solids industry for decades. It can deagglomerate dry, greasy or partially moisture containing products in an energy-efficient manner or to bring them to the desired target particle size. The latest generation of Gericke GNB nibblers creates more value for users. The focus is on expanding process applications while reducing cleaning time and extending the service life of the nibbler screen. The new features of the Gericke GNB offer various advantages. The target particle size can be easily adjusted by changing the shaker. This makes it possible to process a wide variety of products on the same granulator. It is now possible to set the optimum clearance between the beater unit to the screen insert for each screen and product without opening the machine. The metal contact monitoring system protects against incorrect
