New Fixed RFID reader and new antenna GA25 from Brady

User feedback resulted in new features and bug fixes for the fixed RFID reader FR22 Lite and the antenna GA25.

When companies update their products, they often include new features or bug fixes. The improvements which they implement generally represent responses to user feedback about the product. This is precisely what Brady has done with their new hardware products: the fixed RFID reader FR22 Lite is a response to users of the FR22 which needed a simpler reader, and the new antenna GA25 will satisfy all users who do not require the extreme performance of Brady’s other antennas.

The Fixed RFID Reader FR22 Lite

The Brady FR22 Lite is the entry variant of the powerful Brady FR22 RFID reader. The FR22 Lite has the same RFID engine and processing platform as FR22. The need for an external computer or tablet is eliminated with this reader, as a processor is integrated. It does not have the same wireless connectivity, video capability or support for Brady external modules as the FR22, however. “But that is precisely what we wanted and what the customers said they needed”, explains Lluis Bueno, Senior Product Manager for RFID & IoT Devices and Software. “Not all use cases require the kind of capabilities which the FR22 has, with video output, wireless connectivity and 16 port multiplexer. Many customers simply need a basic RFID reader.” The FR22 Lite is exactly that. It features a new UHF RFID engine based on the very latest technology and a full set of API‘s available for controlling the reader. Read capacity is at 1.000 tags per second.

The New Antenna GA25

Brady has, historically, always impressed with very special antennas which have not been available elsewhere. “Our customers loved our readers and devices, that was clear”, remembers Lluis Bueno. “But time and time again we saw that customers needed a generic purpose antenna rather than a special one. And we could not provide such antennas.” Some time ago, work on these generic purpose antennas begun, and in 2022, Brady launched a high-performance generic antenna, the GA30, to great acclaim. The new Brady GA25 goes even further in the direction of a generic antenna: it is a robust and
extremely cost-efficient antenna with circular polarization. It has a high gain and achieves a long RFID reading distance, is usable on all surfaces, including metal, and shows excellent performance in every orientation.

Application Areas

Brady FR22 Lite and Brady GA25 can be integrated in one and the same installation. Suitable application areas include asset tracking, Inventory management, people or vehicle access control and document tracking. They can also be used to great advantage in RFID gates and tunnels.

Easily print your UHF/NFC RFID labels on the fly
Redoing missing tags and flagging up cables on the fly has never been easier. Brady introduces new UHF and NFC RFID labels which can be printed as and when needed. The New UHF Label Brady’s new label is not just a barcode label but also contains a UHF RFID chip and antenna. Portable printers such as the tried and tested Brady M610 recognize this label as one of the standard labels and perform printing as usual. Two gaps are closed with this product: Firstly, this is an easy emergency solution which allows warehouse staff to replace an RFID label that has fallen off. They quickly redo one label rather than an entire batch of labels. Secondly, this label also represents a comfortable entry into the world of RFID for users who have not used it so far. “It‘s a plug and play kind of application”, explains Louis-Emile Lammertyn, EMEA Senior Product Manager at Brady. “This way, customers can start testing the possibilities of RFID without having to buy all the expensive hardware for a complete installation.” A Two-Step Process The UHF RFID label works in conjunction with a portable printer and a handheld reader. RFID LED label for easy picking
Track assets and manage inventory more efficiently. Brady RFID tags show a green LED light when triggered, helping you select the right item. Track assets and manage inventories more efficiently in complex industrial environments with (fully customisable) RFID labels that can fit any surface. Scan and identify, or locate multiple items at once from a distance, or 1 by 1 in close proximity. Brady’s UHF RFID LED Label for general application is designed with the intention to locate a tagged item or a group of items from the field by means of LED light. The label is suitable for use outdoor and indoor, good read ranges, and UV exposed environment. The label contains a small green LED-light that illuminates when triggered by the radio waves of the Brady handheld & fixed RFID readers (within 3.5 m), when the label is selected on-screen. This speeds up picking & locating items in warehouses, data centers and in distribution. Especially in contexts where many items are stored very close to each other, the UHF RFID LED label helps picking the right item, server, or package much faster. Using an RFID reader,

Drive forklift picking efficiency with RFID labels
Internal logistics control is still often based on pen and paper and print-outs from WMS and ERP. Custom RFID labels and integrated forklift scanners increase efficiency. Internal logistics control is still often based on pen and paper and print-outs from WMS and ERP. These time-consuming procedures cost a lot of money, have numerous disadvantages and entail inefficient operations, such as the incorrect placing of products and random driving around of forklifts. So how to get rid of these, while staying in control of ongoing operations? Solution: RFID labels and forklift scanners RFID can help locate forklifts quickly. Location detection can take place in real time and continuously, or at crucial places such as zone changes, or when items are scanned, picked up and dropped off. The data generated enable pick-up and drop-off location control, efficient route calculation and route registration. On top of that, forklifts can also be equipped with detection equipment to read RFID packaging labels on your warehouse pallets, boxes or containers. Brady can supply its L-2588-26B UHF packaging RFID label with a modifiable read range up
