Pharmaceutical production optimization with Russel Finex sieves

Russell Finex helps leading pharmaceutical company meet high levels of demand with the Russell Compact Sieve, with its stainless-steel contact parts, and easy-to-clean strip down design.
A leading pharmaceutical company with nine manufacturing companies across India had a vision of revolutionizing the pharmaceutical industry. With six facilities focusing on the combination and formulation processes of pharmaceutical drugs and three focusing on processing active pharmaceutical ingredients, the company looked to expand one of its plants to not only manufacture general oral solids, but also injectables and oncology oral solids.

To ensure the highest quality final product, the company reached out to Russell Finex for a high-capacity vibrating screen. After assessing the company’s requirements, Russell Finex recommended the Russell Compact Sieve® as the ideal solution for check-screening pharmaceutical powders due to its stainless-steel contact parts, and easy-to-clean strip down design.

The impressively hygienic and versatile unit fits into areas with limited headroom while protecting operators from dust. Fitted with a Russell Easy-Clean Magnetic Separator™, ferrous contamination that is small enough to pass through the mesh screen is also removed.

The installation of the 600mm diameter Russell Compact Sieve® allowed all contamination to be removed. The company was able to consistently produce a high-quality product whilst meeting high levels of demand. With 85 years’ experience in supplying sieving, separation and filtration technology in the pharmaceutical industry Russell Finex can find a solution for any processing problem.

Recovering excess chromium powder from component parts
Metal treatment specialist improves its production capacity using the Finex Separator. The process now only requires one operator instead of two Helping a range of industries to prevent wear and tear to their component parts, Chromin Maastricht BV specializes in chrome diffusion. By using chromium powder, they create a chrome plating layer over the component part, making it resistant to abrasion and adhesion. This is particularly useful for parts such as plungers, bearing bushes and ball valves. To achieve chrome diffusion, the company needs to bake component parts in a heat-resistant container with the chromium powder at temperatures of 800-1000 degrees Celsius. When this process is completed, excess chromium powder usually remains on the component part which previously required a hand sieve to clean the parts. As a better alternative to this time-consuming practice, Chromin integrated a 40” Finex Separator™ into their production line to remove excess powder while allowing it to be recovered for reuse. As well as increasing capacity from 20 to 40 containers per day, the process now only requires

Restoring a 30-year-old industrial sifter to factory new condition
Russell Finex refurbished a worn 30-year-old industrial sifter Finex 22” sieve to ensure equipment is maintained for maximum performance. While Russell Finex machines are built for longevity, the group’s aftersales support is always ready to ensure equipment is maintained for maximum performance. Recently, the service team went above and beyond during a visit to a leading label manufacturer in Scotland. Noticing two 30-year-old Finex 22” machines, the team sent them back to headquarters for a thorough inspection and health report, taking only a week to complete. When receiving back the machine, the customer was pleasantly surprised to find a brand-new refurbished machine after mistakenly thinking they were sent a brand-new replacement. Extremely satisfied with the results, they happily sent their second Finex 22” to be refurbished and is expected to be delivered back to them this month. In addition to high-quality refurbishments, Russell Finex also offers a range of aftersales support including remeshing, servicing and upgrade options.

Russell Finex helps streamline Chinese additive manufacturing plant
Russell Finex helps Chinese additive manufacturing (AM) plant to streamline its powder processing, replacing their manual screen with an efficient and safer automated solution. Additive manufacturing is a growing market in China. Companies like the Chengdu Tianqi Industry Group strive to improve the process by building reliable 3D printing centres to meet rising demand. To help with this the group contacted Russell Finex to replace their manual sieve with an efficient and safer automated solution to process their titanium AM powder. After a consultation, the Russell AMPro® Lite was recommended as an innovative alternative to meet Tianqi’s processing requirements. The machine was set up for powder reclaim from the 3D printer chamber. Screening powder at a much faster rate so it could be moved on to the next stage of processing. In addition to increasing sieving capacity, the Russell AMPro® Lite minimized product waste and improved operator safety. The contained system was ideal to prevent powder leakage into the air, as well as preventing contaminants from getting into the powder. The Russell AMPro® Lite is ideal for safeguarding

Natulab improves sieving throughput of pharmaceutical ingredients Leading herbal medicine manufacturer uses the Russell Compact Airswept Sieve™ for efficient vacuum sieving
Natulab improves sieving throughput of pharmaceutical ingredients
Leading herbal medicine manufacturer uses the Russell Compact Airswept Sieve™ for efficient vacuum sieving As the 10th largest pharmaceutical company in Brazil, Natulab has been met with increased demand following the rapid growth of the pharmaceutical market. To meet this demand, the company wanted set up a new production line in their Brazil plant, requiring a fully sealed and enclosed screener that could fit into their vacuum conveying line. Natulab’s screening requirement meant they would need to eliminate oversize contamination, lumps and foreign particles from their end product. Previously, they used a vibrating sieve, but found it to be an inefficient solution due to poor performance and frequent mesh replacements. To meet Natulab’s needs, Russell Finex recommended the Russell Compact Airswept Sieve ™ as an alternative solution. Utilizing a vacuum conveying system, ingredients are passed through to the sieve where good product is passed further down the line while waste and oversize is separated into a discharge outlet. Thanks to the Russell Compact
