Hygienic bucket elevator for salt for hygienic cleaning

SINFIMASA has manufactured two 316L stainless steel bucket elevators for a large mining company according to the principles of hygienic design.
Common salt (NaCl) is considered a neutral powder and is used for dry cleaning of hygienically designed equipment and installations. The handling and treatment of this salt requires equipment that is equally hygienically designed to prevent contamination during the cleaning process. In addition, the characteristics of the product - highly corrosive and hygroscopic - must be taken into account.

When designing an elevator for handling this salt, a number of specifications must be taken into account to reduce or eliminate the risk of the conveyor being a direct or indirect source of contamination. This is achieved by ensuring that the elevator can be easily cleaned, inspected and maintained, and by preventing the accumulation of dirt in the elevator.

All materials that come into contact with the salt must be stable and inert. Since it concerns a belt elevator, the choice of belt must comply with FDA regulations, as must the rubber of the drive pulley, pulley blocks, gaskets, etc.
The contact surfaces inside the elevator must also be designed and constructed so that they can be easily cleaned. For example, the interior corners and angles are all wide and rounded, and the base and head of the elevator contain several manholes so that the interior is easily accessible for cleaning and inspection. In addition, the connections between the different bodies of the elevator are sealed with FDA-certified seals to ensure they are watertight and hygienic.

With regard to the geared motor, as a precautionary measure, a catch basin for any oil leaks is included in the design. The oil itself, as well as the grease of the equipment’s various bearings, is certified for use in foodstuffs.

For a major mining company, SINFIMASA manufactured two 316L stainless steel bucket elevators following the principles of hygienic design as a key element to prevent contamination. These bucket elevators, each over 31 metres high, have a capacity of 30 tonnes per hour. After installation, they were thermally insulated to prevent condensation in the conveyors due to temperature differences.

Experience and Commitment The main business of Sinfines y Maquinaria S.A. (Sinfimasa) is to understand the customer and design and manufacture conveyors according to project requirements and the specifications of the solid material to be handled. At our facilities in Guissona (Spain), we have our own engineering department with over 35 years’ experience, where we design machines that meet our customers’ technical specifications and make our commitment to their engineering project. We offer solutions for conveying and lifting bulk solids with uncompromising quality and precision, and we ensure equipment reliability in every situation in the processing plant. Safe, Robust, Reliable In our production plant we manufacture products with all types of finishes as required: pickled and passivated, electro-polished, lacquered, sandblasted and food-grade, etc. We work with different materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel and anti-wear steel. We use high quality and universally available components such as SEW gearmotors or SKF bearings. Our suppliers are also key to our success and we make a commitment to them. We have a test bench where, based on product samples from our customers, we research the best solution for the requirements of each project. We are committed to our customers and engineering companies to offer machines with guaranteed reliability. Sinfimasa has welding procedures and welders approved according to ASME Section IX (QW-484). We use an automated welding system to ensure that the entire length of the conveyors are welded evenly and are free from voids. At Sinfimasa we are rigorous and demanding, with numerous references in several countries on all five continents as our guarantee. Please ask us for more information as you require. Consult us about your project on no obligation. We will make you a reliable technical proposal that is 100% adapted to your requirements.

Wear and temperature resistant chain elevator for foundry sand
Sinfimasa designs and manufactures tailor-made elevators, such as this case: a robust and wear-resistant elavator for temperatures up to 500ºC Elevator for foundry sand Sinfimasa designs and manufactures tailor-made elevators. Each elevator is individually adapted to the specific project. We want to share publicly how we solve the problems posed by the market. Our customer is an important foundry that needed to recover the sand used in its manufacturing process in order to reuse it for the filling of its moulds. Wear and temperature resistant The difficulties in this project are that this type of sand is very abrasive and that the working temperature at the inlet of the elevator is 200ºC with peaks of up to 500ºC. Therefore, we designed a chain bucket elevator. We used a round steel chain, as the high abrasiveness of the sand would cause unacceptable wear on the bushings. The chain alloy contains a high percentage of manganese, which makes it wear resistant. The buckets are also reinforced with anti-wear steel. Robust construction The coating used for both primer and finish is anti-caloric,

Screw feeder with ATEX certification and FDA approval Sinfimasa presents a solution for dosing very fine, explosive bulk solids, in this case active ingredients of medicines.
Screw feeder with ATEX certification and FDA approval
Sinfimasa presents a solution for dosing very fine, explosive bulk solids, in this case active ingredients of medicines. In a practical situation, dosing of 300 litres per hour of micronised bulk product (active ingredients of medicines) was required. As the substance was explosive, a machine with ATEX GAS 1 certification was provided. Sinfimasa designed a stainless steel 316 tube screw feeder, suitable for ATEX zone 1 (2G). A screw of 70 mm and a tube of 80 mm were chosen, so that there is a large clearance. The screw is driven by a 0.75 kW ATEX certified motor gearbox. All parts that may come into contact with the product, such as seals, plastics, grease, etc., are FDA-compliant thanks to the hygienic, easy-to-clean design. The product itself is a sticky product, so the tube is manufactured with a glossy polished (g220) inner surface and an industrial satin matt outer surface. In accordance with directive 2014/34/EU, equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres must be designed with a view to integrating explosion protection. These
