Optimized workload balancing using Tactical Route Planning

ORTEC has developed a new solution in the ORTEC Vehicle Routing and Dispatch solution
set. Routing and scheduling decisions are supported at a tactical level using Tactical Route Planning (TRP). This enables companies to spread the deployment of staff and resources more evenly across a certain period.

Tactical Route Planning (TRP) consists of two components: Period Scheduler and Territory Planner. Based on a customer’s location and delivery frequency, the Period Scheduling tool determines the optimal day(s) for customer deliveries. Territory Planner is ideally suited for assigning sales territories to sales forces in addition to its applications within regular distribution.

In Practice

A global player in beverages has been using the new TRP in one country and is currently rolling out TRP in 25 additional countries. Other customers signed up for evaluation of their current routes. This method can also be implemented for workload balancing within the oil and gas industries and within the professional service industries for design of their recurring periodical visits.
