Grate Magnet
Grate Magnet

Grate Magnets for free-flowing gravity fed products

Grate Magnets offer excellent protection from metal contamination. As product flows over the magnetic tubes, captured metal contaminants are held to the surface of the tube and travel to the bottom to prevent washoff.
Grate Magnets are placed directly in the product stream allowing free flowing products to come in direct contact with the grate. Grate Magnets are typically constructed with one inch diameter magnetic tubes mounted on two inch centers in a frame. The length and width can be fabricated to any dimension, usually in two inch increments.

Grate Magnets offer excellent protection from metal contamination. As product flows over the magnetic tubes, captured metal contaminants are pushed to the underside of the tube where they are now out of contact with the product flow preventing washoff back into the clean material.

Cleaning is achieved by removing the Grate Magnet and wiping the magnetic tubes clean. It is important to keep in mind that by placing a Grate Magnet in the product flow, you will be reducing fifty percent of your flow through area. Grate Magnets should be sized so they do not impede the flow of product.

Magnetically engineered to provide a full range of ferrous metal separation from free-flowing products with gravity fall processing applications. Puritan's designs offer maximum capture, control and protection of equipment while improving product purity. For maximum protection, locate in critical areas where capture is possible, most needed, and where removal for cleaning is feasible. Grates are most effective when the product is dry, free flowing and does not bridge between the magnetic tubes (Puritan also offers other magnetic designs for those more difficult applications). Select a Magnetic Grate at least twice the cross sectional area of the incoming spout opening and discharge. When in doubt, phone Puritan for engineering assistance.

Rotating Drum Magnet & Housing Continuous Self-Cleaning magnet
Rotating Drum Magnet & Housing
Continuous Self-Cleaning magnet Rotating Drum Magnets provide good separation in applications where there is a high concentration of metal contamination or terminating the product flow for cleaning of the magnet is not feasible. Rotating Drum Magnets are designed for continuous self-cleaning of metal contaminants from product flow streams. As product enters the housing inlet, an adjustable feed gate meters the flow of product to the drum face. The drum has a stationary, 180 degree arc, internal magnet, with an outer drum shell that rotates. When product passes over the powerful magnetic field, metal contaminants are attracted to the drum surface where they are safely held on to until the ferrous material passes through the magnetic field where it is discharged to the rear of the drum housing. Cleaned filtered product is discharged to the front of the drum housing. These are commonly used with wood, sand, glass, rubber, powders, and many other applications.

Ez Clean Vertical Spout For removal of tramp metal contaminants
Ez Clean Vertical Spout
For removal of tramp metal contaminants Engineered to remove fine to large ferrous contaminants from high volume, gravity fed product streams. Puritan’s Vertical Spout Magnets are ideally suited for products that would bridge or choke in a magnetic tube type separator. Ferrous contaminants are easily removed from products that are moist, lumpy, granular, or in powder form. Powerful opposing magnets mounted to outside of the housing draw tramp metal out of the product stream. A center diverter on the housing inlet helps direct product towards the magnets. A Single Trap face design eliminates the possibility of the captured tramp metal being washed off back into the product stream. Cleaning this magnetic separator is achieved by releasing the drawer latches and removing the internal drawer assembly. The opposing magnets are stationary and as the drawer is removed, tramp metal is transferred out of the housing and discarded into a collection tray (not shown). Tramp metal can cause serious damage to process…

Suspended Belt Magnet To remove ferrous contaminants
Suspended Belt Magnet
To remove ferrous contaminants Puritan Magnetics’ Suspended Belt Magnets are designed for suspension above a belt conveyor and are engineered to remove ferrous contaminants from high volume deep burdens. As product passes under the magnet, metal contaminants are drawn out of the material to the face of the magnet. This style of magnet should be installed at the discharge of the head pulley if possible. Material will be flowing more freely and can be thrown into the face of the magnet increasing the separation results over an installation that has the magnet suspended over a troughed belt. This can be supplied with a wiper arm or stripper plate to simplify cleaning. For automated continuous cleaning, a POW-R CLEAN option can be selected which incorporates a set of pulleys, belt, motor, and reducer that travels around the Suspended Belt Magnet discharging metal contaminants automatically. Suspended Belt Magnets can be installed in an in-line or cross belt configuration and are commonly used in such…

Manual Clean Drawer Magnets Model Pictured ND288
Manual Clean Drawer Magnets
Model Pictured ND288 Engineered to remove medium and fine ferrous contaminants from dry, free flowing products under gravity flow. Puritan’s Drawer Magnets protect processing machinery and improve product purity. Multiple staggered rows provide maximum contact area for product flow. As product flows through the stainless steel housing, it cascades over the staggered rows of magnetic tubes. Ferrous contaminants are pulled to the surface of the magnets where they move to the underside of the tube to prevent washoff. Also available in EZ CLEAN and POW-R CLEAN.
