Flexible A.B.S. mixing and dosing logistics for leading tank and container

Chemowerk GmbH is one of the leading companies for the tank and container construction sector and for the production of specific moulded parts from fibre reinforced composites.
Within the scope of building a highly modern, new production plant for PE storage tanks and large containers, the company selected with respect to the dosing logistics the solution offered by A.B.S. Silo und Förderanlagen GmbH. The fact that A.B.S. could offer a complete turnkey solution from one source for the raw materials logistics upstream of the production process was crucial for this selection. A total of six flexible transport bins were delivered together with discharge aids, three dosing stations and three weigh bridges including the complete measurement and automation technology. Flexibility combined with high dosing accuracy was of crucial importance to Chemowerk GmbH when choosing this solution since the production of individual pieces frequently requires variable mixtures and dosing quantities. A mixing station installed at the site is used to produce the required mixtures in optimised quantities. In the first stage, this fills the transport bins supplied by A.B.S. with a storage capacity of 1 m³ each. These containers simultaneously serve as temporary buffers which allow the production process to access a total of six prepared material mixtures at any time. Each of the required Flex-Containers is brought as needed to one of the three automatic dosing stations also supplied and docked there at the top. The raw material quantity required for the production of a certain individual piece is separately requested in each case and following the input of the article number filled to 20 g accuracy by the dosing system via an auger into a transport vessel placed on the weigh bridge. The special benefits of the Flex-Containers also include the fact that they are particularly suited for the raw materials used at Chemowerk. These materials potentially have poor flowing properties since they tend to form bridges. In contrast to rigid containers, the usage of Flex-Containers with their yielding fabric walls results in much lower bridge formation. The containers are also equipped with the Walk-Ex discharge aid. This consists of an inflatable cone. Periodic injection and extracting air causes the cone to change its geometry. In this way bulk good bridges are broken down and the bulk goods flow out freely.
