Built for What's Next: Daxner Expands Its Fabrication Base in Austria
The family-owned specialist in automated ingredient handling is expanding its manufacturing capacity and creating room for future growth.
Behind every batch of spices, baked goods, snacks or pet food lies a demanding challenge: storing, conveying, dosing, weighing and blending a wide range of raw ingredients with absolute precision, every single time. This is the world of Daxner. The Austrian family-owned company designs and engineers customized systems that automate the entire process chain for powders, granules and liquids, from raw material receiving to downstream production.
Now Daxner is expanding the manufacturing base behind those systems. Construction has begun on a new fabrication hall at the company's headquarters in Wels/Austria, adding approximately 1,000 square meters (about 10,800 square feet) of modern manufacturing space for vessel and tank fabrication. The new hall does more than add space: it streamlines processes and lays the groundwork for additional capacity and future growth. Completion is scheduled for early summer 2027.
Building capacity, working smarter
The new hall will measure approximately 53 meters in length, 20 meters in width and 16 meters in height (about 174 by 66 by 52 feet), making it the tallest building on the Daxner site. Three overhead cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 3.2 metric tons (about 3.5 U.S. tons), will support fabrication and material handling.
The project goes beyond adding floor space. Vessel fabrication and shipping will move into the new building, significantly improving product flow from incoming raw materials to outgoing finished products. Clearer material routes and better-aligned production areas will enable more efficient processes and higher manufacturing capacity.
Room for further development
The expansion also frees up space elsewhere on the site, allowing Daxner to expand its technical center and strengthen its testing and development capabilities. Several years ago, the company acquired an adjacent plot of approximately 7,800 square meters (about 84,000 square feet), part of which is being used for this project. In the longer term, a dedicated shipping hall is planned next to the new facility as a possible next stage.
Energy-efficient by design
The new hall will be integrated into the site's existing energy infrastructure, with district heating complemented by a new 115 kWp photovoltaic system and 100 kWh battery storage. Total photovoltaic capacity at the site will rise to approximately 210 kWp.
Engineering and fabrication, side by side
The investment reflects Daxner's long-term commitment to excellence in manufacturing. Keeping core fabrication close to engineering and development allows the company to maintain a high level of control over quality, precision and processes, while preserving and continuously developing valuable technical know-how.
