ScrapeTec at Cement EXPO in Delhi

India’s rise to become the second largest cement producer and ScrapeTec’s success story with AirScrape

India’s largest and only cement magazine, the 38-year-old Indian Cement Review magazine is scheduled to host the 14th Cement EXPO on 14th - 15th December at Hotel Manekshaw Center, New Delhi. The co-located 9th Indian Cement Review Conference will address the cement industry’s ambitions to deliver sustainable, low-carbon cement, in line with the 2030 carbon reduction targets, while navigating the major economic forces impacting businesses at present.

The cement industry in India is a major contributor to the country’s economy. In 2023, the industry produced 356 million tons of cement, making India the second largest cement producer in the world.

Scrapetec is also looking forward to participating in the Cement EXPO in Delhi and presenting innovative solutions in the field of cement technology. The participation in this important event underlines its commitment to the Indian cement industry.

Actually, ScrapeTec had planned to enter the Indian market in 2-3 years. But things turned out differently. With the onset of COVID, the number of enquiries from India rose sharply. And so the first orders were placed in 2021 and 2022, one from the cement industry and one from the steel sector.

Both installations were successfully supported remotely by Scrapetec. Since these installations, the volume of enquiries has increased many times over because the AirScrape has delivered what it promised. No more maintenance, no more downtime, no more dust and no more spillages.
These initial installations and the high volume of enquiries have led us to work more closely with our strong partner ABEX Engineering to support and serve the Indian market.

Abex Engineering was started by a mechanical engineer to bridge the gap between manufacturers and end-users in the industrial sectors. Their team of Engineers is what makes them different.

Groundbreaking mining solutions: ScrapeTec & Kinder at the Perth fair
At the trade fair in Australia, which was especially a home match for Kinder, it became clear why Western Australia is considered the center of major mining companies such as Rio Tinto Group and BHP Billiton. These companies are predominantly active in the iron and gold sectors and significantly shape the mining industry in the region. Kinder Australia, a well-known player in the industry, used the show to present their latest innovations. Although the company already enjoys an excellent reputation, visitors to the show were eager to see the latest developments. Kinder is internationally known for seeking the best solutions, and that commitment led them to Scrapetec. Scrapetec, a company that provides solutions against dust, spills and maintenance in mines, introduced its revolutionary AirScrape at the show. This product is the first and only seal that operates without contact to the belt. The application of this innovative technology in mines not only means a significant reduction in wear and maintenance, but also massive cost savings for mine operators. In addition, the AirScrape contributes to improved working conditions, environmental compatibility and the

Problem solving in cement production: dust and spills
ScrapeTec work closely with customers in various industries to address dust emissions, material spillage, conveyor belt damage, preventing production downtime, expensive repairs, and hazardous accidents, as seen in a recent project where a cement industry. In a recent project, a cement production plant needed assistance with excessive dust emissions during the handling of clinker, sand and gravel, that were causing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) issues. In addition, the operator faced the problems of costly material spillage and the need for ongoing conveyor belt repairs. A comprehensive site inspection revealed that a standard chute sealing system was used in conjunction with a basic clamping system positioned outside the chute. The existing skirting system and lack of inner skirting failed to contain excessive dust emission and material spillage at the transfer points. High dust levels resulted in poor visibility of the 70-metre-long conveyor tunnel, which negatively affected the maintenance team’s ability to monitor efficiencies during the ship unloading process and to prevent bottlenecks in the production process. “Apart from concerns about safety and environmental hazards, management needed to find

Safe and efficient dust suppression during the conveying of grain
Effective dust suppression systems by ScrapeTec enhance safety and efficiency in grain transportation. The new ScrapeTec dust suppression systems have been successfully installed at an Australian grain storage and ship loading facility. The new systems reduce dust and spillage significantly, improving working conditions and reducing maintenance costs. Contact-free The systems - comprising FRAS AirScrape and FRAS TailScrape technologies - maintain a contact-free position over the conveyor belt, reducing wear and extending the service life of the belt. They´ve also added a tail Dustbox with Stainless Steel filter cloth and three boxes after the transfer point, which have helped in reducing air pressure and confining dust inside the box. The reduction of dust and spillage mitigates explosion risks and enhances safety. Global availability ScrapeTec, with over 30 years experience in the global bulk handling sector, has developed these advanced solutions for use in a wide range of industries dealing with difficult bulk materials. Studies indicate minimal wear even

The ScrapeTec energy-saving formula
At many trade shows, the ScrapeTec team learns a lot about the immense energy costs associated with dust extraction on conveyor systems. These fixed costs are often cited as an argument against investing in innovations for dust protection. The ScrapeTec energy-saving formula: Energy costs for dust removal minus DustScrape The calculation is simple: By investing in a ScrapeTec dust protection solution around the DustScrape at the transfer points of a conveyor system, the entire energy costs of dust extraction can be saved - so they are reduced to zero. This is because the use of the filter module DustScrape and the innovative sealing solutions AirScrape and TailScrape allow the dust extraction to be turned off. The seals work contactlessly with special profiles and thus create the Venturi effect: the air is sucked inwards. Dust does not escape, and the bulk material also remains on the conveyor belt. The DustScrape, with its special and robust filter cloth, captures the dust that arises from the fall energy before transfer/feeding in the direction of the conveyor. The interplay of these components has now proven itself worldwide wherever dust protection solutions have been sought. The argument
