Gericke Test Centres – There is always one near you

Years of experience are essential for the correct design of a bulk materials processing system. But to design the system right from the start, more is needed: Tests must be carried out, and whenever possible on an industrial scale. To make this crucial step possible, Gericke operates test centres at all main locations on three continents.

Shortening planning time

For production-related trials, Gericke customers have access to test centres in Switzerland, France, England, The Netherlands, Brazil, USA and Singapore. These are equipped with original machines. Experienced specialists design the test arrangement individually and carry out the tests. In addition to testing individual process steps, such as a metering system, the interaction of different machines can also be tested in a practical manner.

Increasing process reliability

The advantage for the customer is to receive confirmation within a short time that the intended process setup delivers what it is expected to do. The risks are reduced and the planning time shortened. In addition, the customer gains valuable experience about the process and can also train emwployees.

Even remotely

The use of video streaming and conferencing systems also enables detailed testing without the need for physical presence. All tests and meetings can also be conducted via conference tools and the customer receives product samples for analysis in their lab. Such remote testing saves a lot of time and travel costs.

3 hints to save energy and reduce cost in powder handling
Not all industries have the luxury of lush margins. It is therefore even more important to work with an experienced partner to design processes that are efficient and energy-saving and ensure the availability of the plant. Do you have your energy costs under control? Energy consumption is becoming increasingly important, and not only for reasons of sustainability. For products with low margins, every cost saving is significant. In many bulk material processes, transport within the plant is an energy guzzler. Tons of material often have to be moved. Here it is important to select the right conveying technology with the expertise of the plant designer, which also takes into account the properties of the bulk material. In a highly standardised production, switching from batch production to a continuous mixing process can also save a lot of energy. Plant failures due to abrasion? Many bulk solids, such as pigments, are very abrasive. Abrasion plays a role wherever bulk solids move. The correct design of the piping, the type of conveying and the right choice of equipment have a dramatic effect on the service life of the plant components. More Innovative Rotary Valve Engineering
More Innovative Rotary Valve Engineering
For many years Gericke RotaVal has continuously improved its range of rotary valves. Designed and manufactured in the UK, fast clean modular range valves have been delivered to a worldwide customer base in various industries. These rotary valves offer clever and innovative solutions that protect the production process and reduce operating costs. Rotary valves are often seen as a commodity. But they play an essential role in many bulk handling processes, often even as a safety device. Therefore, it is important that the owner or manager of a plant is also considering the operational and design aspects of such a valve. Reduced Life Cycle Costs Thanks to Tapered Bore Extractable versions of rotary valves facilitate the cleaning and inspection process. But with the very small gap between the rotor and the housing, the opening and closing of a valve always involves the risk of the rotor touching the housing. The tapered bore design used by Gericke RotaVal eliminates

Gentle and safe transport of toxic NMC powders
Gericke has delivered multiple dense phase pneumatic transport systems for the gentle and safe transport of fine toxic NMC powders used for the battery production. For the production of rechargeable batteries cathode material, typically fine lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) powders are utilized. For a global chemical company Gericke delivered multiple pneumatic conveying systems to unload the powders from IBC and to convey to further production processes placed up to 50m away from the unloading point. Abrasive powders NMC powder usually has a high bulk density larger than 1.5 kg/l and are considered abrasive. Due to the abrasive character a low velocity dense phase conveying system was chosen against a lean phase conveying system to minimise wear effects in the conveying line. With the Gericke PulseFlow ® PTA conveying system a pressure vessel is used for transporting the powders as slowly moving product plugs. Wear protective coating No contamination coming from metallic wear is accepted in the powder because it could cause later a short circuit in the battery. Therefore, the complete conveying system (pressure

Gericke Mixers are now even more energy-efficient
Saving energy is a key pillar of a sustainable production environment. With the introduction of highly efficient IoT drives for its GMS batch mixers, Gericke supports their customers in achieving their ambitious goals. GMS mixers The proven GMS mixers are now combined with a highly energy-saving workhorse: a new, very efficient drive, based on a permanent magnet motor. In these motors, the magnetic field is on one side created by a permanent magnet, which offers several key advantages. Strong and efficient The delivered torque is constant over the entire speed range, which makes these motors ideal for batch mixers that start and stop frequently. Since the magnetic field only needs to be built up on one side, the efficiency of the motors is significantly higher than that of asynchronous motors. The international energy rating for such a motor is “ultra premium efficiency” (IE5). In addition to the higher rating, the high torque that can be delivered also indirectly reduces energy consumption, as the motor does not have to be oversized for the start-up. Compact and quiet Space limitations are often seen in a production plant, especially when an existing installation needs

Continuous dense phase pneumatic conveying with limited height
Twin vessel dense phase conveying is the solution when minimal height is available and when at the same time the product needs to be conveyed gently without any creation of fines. A customer had major issues with a belt conveyor that should transport the instant chocolate drink powder from production to a sieve placed right above the filling lines. The installed belt conveyor contaminated the powder with wear which was not acceptable. Because all upstream equipment was already installed, less than 1 m below a discharge rotary valve was available. A lean phase pneumatic conveying system with negative or positive pressure would have been possible. However, because the powder must be treated very gently minimising the creation of fines during the transport, a low velocity dense phase conveying system Gericke PulseFlow PTA with two vessels was selected. The two 20 l pressure vessels were placed side by side and successfully fitted below the continuously discharging rotary valve. The chocolate powder is fed at a rate of 1.5 t/h into one pressure vessel while the other vessel is conveying and alternating. This mode generates a continuous product
