SMC launches a new lightweight floating joint for pneumatic cylinders

SMC, the world’s leading pneumatics provider, has designed and launched a new lightweight floating joint to complement its existing range for pneumatic cylinders.

The JC Series has an aluminium case, instead of traditional steel, offering significant weight loss of up to 30% and thus reducing the inertial forces and lateral loads to actuators whilst operational. It also has a dustproof cover to protect the joint which extends its operating life.

Designed to compensate for any misalignment that may occur between the workpiece and the cylinder, the JC Series has a rotating angle of ±5° and allowable eccentricity of ±0.5 to 1mm. This deviation absorption capacity reduces the wear of the cylinders, extending their service time.

Ideal for any pneumatic cylinder where the joint needs to absorb off-centring or loss of parallel accuracy between the cylinder and the driven body, the JC Series can operate at a maximum tensile/compressive force of 3100N for cylinder bore sizes ranging from 20 to 63mm and with thread sizes from M8x1.25 to M18x1.5 as standard.

Recognised a global technology leader and voted for the second consecutive year as one of the world’s most innovative by leading business magazine, Forbes, SMC has a diverse customer base covering all automation industries.
