SMC Slides Into Action With New Air Slide Table
SMC, the world’s leading pneumatics provider and the original inventor of slide tables, has unveiled a new generation air slide table to meet the demands of today’s marketplace.
The new MXQ-Z series has four body types in one guide – double ported, low thrust with high rigidity, single side ported and interchangeable height – offering customers greater versatility. The MXQ-Z is also up to 44% lighter and 23% smaller in height thanks to a thinner table made of a specialised, extremely tough stainless steel material which has no impact on its rigidity.
In addition, the compact design and low centre of gravity takes away unnecessary movement on the guide unit and eliminates the risk of bends, distortions, oscillations and vibrations. The double piston rod construction also delivers significantly better uniform running characteristics as well as higher extending and retracting forces.
Its clever construction doesn’t stop there; thanks to its compact, symmetrical design it’s especially suitable for applications where space is at a premium.
Work pieces and machinery are protected from damage thanks to the MXQ-Z’s stroke adjuster options – metal stopper with bumper, shock absorber and rubber stopper – which absorb the impact of the table. The rubber stopper, for example, has cut the impact force by 50% and the metal stopper with bumper offers an improved cycle time of up to 300mm/sec.
Auto switches are also protected from contamination and subsequent damage thanks to the lateral auto switch grooves. These round auto switches, D-M9, can be mounted directly without the need of a spacer.
The MXQ-Z is extremely flexible and can be used for many applications such as precise positioning of work pieces, low friction transport, pick and place and applications in which noise is an issue.
