Practical trials for bulk solids processing

Merz Aufbereitungstechnik GmbH carries out production-scale trials in its test centre for process development and adaptation in bulk solids processing. Feasibility tests using just a few kilograms of material are conducted to evaluate basic intake and crushing behaviour as well as particle size distribution. Parameters such as roll profile, roll material, grinding gap, and speeds can be adjusted.

Performance tests for equipment sizing

For precise plant design, the company conducts confirmation trials using material quantities ranging from 50 to over 1000 kg. These tests determine design parameters including specific throughput, motor power consumption, optimal speeds, required roll width, and product conveyability. A 3.2-tonne overhead crane facilitates big-bag handling and the exchange of components such as rolls, vibrating chutes, roll feeders, and hoppers.

Toll processing and rental equipment for on-site testing

In addition to testing campaigns, the test centre offers toll processing for new product launches, process optimisation, or temporary capacity needs. Rental machines from the facility can also be integrated directly into customer production lines to evaluate factors like moisture, ambient temperature, and process variations under operating conditions.

The test centre is equipped with various processing and dosing components from the manufacturer's product range. Equipment available includes crushers, mills, screening machines, cascade separators, and dosing machines, alongside analytical equipment for evaluation.
