Miscanthus, wood chips, dust and powder Geroldinger sees the pelletization of biomass fuels as a waste of energy, therefore first flow experiments were carried out with the the biomass "miscanthus". The technological challenge of this product is the low bulk density of only 140kg/m³. Based on the laboratory results the silo and heating system of our plant was produced. The annual heat requirement of 1500 hours at full load by 150kW involves the heating of all operational buildings (warehouse and office areas) and the peak loads caused by the paint shop. The heating system consists of a standard industrial combustion boiler, a self-made 25,000 liters of hot water storage for providing the energy for the peak heat load, a housed intake pit (equipped with a dedusting unit) and four screw-conveyors (500mm diameter) to ensure a rapid take over of materials from suppliers.
