Pellets and Micropellets

Workshop No.192

TTC will host the workshop Pellets and Mircopellets for oral multiparticulate dosage forms from November 26 to 28, 2013 in Binzen, close to Basel.

An increasing number of pharmaceutical products enter the market as multiparticulate dosage forms – mainly as pellets. Even the healthcare sector oftentimes reverts to pellets when it comes to the marketable form of functional food.
Due to quite a number of different techniques available for the produc-tion of pellets, however, formulators and marketing managers find it difficult to pick a technique. After all, each technique claims to be the optimal.
The objective of this workshop is to demonstrate the advantages and drawbacks of these techniques. Focussing on the optimal spectrum of each one but also examining the economical and ergonomic aspects of manufacturing processes.
This advanced training offer is ideally suited for researchers, product developers and product managers of all industries, including the pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetics or food and feed industries, who are in the business of marketing products in the form of pellets.
The Pellets and Micropellets workshop, which will be held in English, will take place from November 26 – 28 in Binzen, close to Basel.
The participation fee is 1,770 euros (exclusive of VAT) and includes the workshop documents and catering during the workshop. The host of this workshop is the Technology Training Center (TTC) in Binzen, close to Basel.
An optimal interplay between theory and practice:
The two-and-a-half-day workshop offers a well-balanced combination of theory and practice, rounded out by general topics such as
GMP-compliant cleaning and an overview of relevant excipients. Experts from acedemia and industry will pass their knowledge and practical insight on the various different techniques for producing pellets and micropellets on to the participants.
This will include, on the first day, presentations of a variety of produc-tion processes for pellets, followed by case studies and detailed insight into the various different processes even in continuous operations. Lectures on formulation principles and suitable excipients used for the production of pellets will round out the first day.
On the second day, participants will learn more about some of the new fields of application for multiparticulates and their professional scale-up. In addition, the challenge of compacting multiparticulates and how to cope with this challenge will be illustrated. Once all of the process options have been covered and explained, an extensive, on-site practical part will take place at the technology center.
Here, participants will have the opportunity to be hands-on and experience the pelletizing process up close. After the theoretical and practical experiences of the first few days, guests will gain insight into additional pelletizing processes as well as GMP-compliant cleaning towards the end of the workshop.
The workshop will take place from November 26 – 28, 2013 in Binzen. The participation fee is 1,770 euros (exclusive of VAT) and includes the workshop documents and catering during the workshop. A limited number of seats will be available free of charge to students enrolled in relevant degree programs. The organizer of this workshop is the Technology Training Center (TTC) in Binzen.
