Square silos help French flour milling family move forward
Square silos help French flour milling family move forward
Since many generations, you can find Minoterie Degrange, the flour mill of the Degrange family, at the beautiful shores of the Lac du Bourget. Forward-looking, the family invested in the mill, including in square silos. Progress as a tradition The many previous generations – Minoterie Degrange was established in 1704 – all left their mark on the flour mill, always looking to the future. Progress as a tradition, indeed. The current owner, Philippe Degrange, also has a forward-looking view in the blood. Plans were made to expand the mill. Additional process and storage capacity was required to face future challenges. In the immediate vicinity of the flour mill was however limited space available. The location itself, near the centre of Le Bourget-du-Lac town, proved to be an extra difficulty. There is a strict limitation in height and the municipality imposed that the building shape architecturally had to fit into the landscape. To top the challenges all off has…

Square silos for global supplier printing ink and colourants Flint Group relies again on TSC’s custom made storage solution again.
Square silos for global supplier printing ink and colourants
Flint Group relies again on TSC’s custom made storage solution again. Changing market conditions in printing obliges the Flint Group to produce more efficiently. Part of this improvement is optimizing the short term storage capacity. After a successful project back in 2013 for one of its plants in The Netherlands, this time the German compeer in Frankfurt turned to TSC. There were several challenges to deal with in this project. The silos have been integrated in an existing hall with limited height. By building square and directly near the walls, a minimum amount of valuable space was lost. A bonus point to this is that the process technology has been accommodated in the silo tower, which prevents that separate steel constructions were required. Besides, for the sake of flexibility, five of six silo bins have been executed in different dimensions. At the same time will be dealt with fine ink powder, characterized by particles down to 1 micron and with poor flow properties. The smooth walls and relatively big, steep hoppers are taking…

Clever expansion for flagship brewery Stella Artois Square silos for raw materials on a prominent place
Clever expansion for flagship brewery Stella Artois
Square silos for raw materials on a prominent place With a fourth brew line for the Stella Artois brewery in Leuven, Belgium, market leader AB InBev invests in its roots. TSC Silos took on the challenge to realize maximum storage capacity on an atypical surface, with an extra challenge during installation. AB InBev and Stella Artois The figures of AB InBev and Stella Artois are outright impressive. The Stella Artois brand exists for almost a century already, the brewery in Leuven for 650 years. It is the number one most sold Belgian beer worldwide and the brewery will be able to brew 12 million hectolitres of beer per year. AB InBev is the largest brewery chain in the world. They brew over 200 local and international brands for 25 countries. When the upcoming merger with SABMiller is completed, the company will be active on all continents and the company’s number one position will be strengthened. Although the demand for Stella Artois increases primarily outside the own border, AB InBev decided to invest…

TSC Silos contributes to challenging infill development BioMar responds to expected market growth
TSC Silos contributes to challenging infill development
BioMar responds to expected market growth Global player in the aquafeed market BioMar expands internally on its location in Karmøy, Norway, anticipating an increasing demand for aquafeed. TSC Silos contributed to this infill development with six square silo bins for minerals. BioMar The originally Danish BioMar is a renowned name in the aquafeed market, with production facilities all over the world. BioMar is active in over eighty countries and produces aquafeed for more than 45 different species of fish, from shrimp to salmon, and for each stage of life of these fish species. Despite their target of being present in a larger number of countries, BioMar now invests in its production facility in Karmøy, Norway, keeping in mind the long term of mainly the salmon market. The factory in Karmøy is at the top of its game at the moment. A new production line will result in an increase in the production capacity of about 30%, to an annual 570,000 tons per year. Although Norway is only a relative small share…

Innovation: ultra slim wall panels Less steel, more capacity
Innovation: ultra slim wall panels
Less steel, more capacity A smooth wall silo has a sanitary design and it got its strength from inside reinforcements, creating a hollow wall space. Especially with small bins for e.g. minerals or micro components, the hollow wall space absorbs storage volume. Therefore TSC introduces an innovation: ultra slim wall panels. These panels are 50% slimmer compared to the standard wall panels and still meet the constructive strength requirements. Ultra slim wall panels are typically suitable for bin sizes varying from 1.5 meters down to 1 meter or even less. The storage capacity increases significantly up to +10%, while at the same time being more economical as they require less steel. Shortly after TSC introduced the ultra slim wall panels, already two orders can be announced. Vobra (specializing in pet food) and ABZ (a Dutch feed miller) were both looking for a small square silo block with smooth walls. The first project is commissioned by Ottevanger Milling Engineers, the latter by Heemhorst…

Why our silos are bolted Extremely precise installation
Why our silos are bolted
Extremely precise installation Large silo installations require tremendous precision. Silo users demand an extreme tight silo for sanitary reasons. This pushes us to the limit regarding the individual silo parts tolerances. In particular, very tall silo installations are challenging. Since we are talking modular silos, small tolerances in every single silo part may add up to a big tolerance 30 meters up. Resulting in an untight silo with contamination risks. By using bolts and nuts combined with extreme precise silo parts, we force the single parts tight together. This enables us to keep total level tolerance <5mm at +30mtr height. The rounded bolt heads have a hygienic design. So that’s why we use bolts and nuts!
