J-Tec recently engineered, built and successfully commissioned a turnkey blending line in Poland for an international key player within the baby food industry. J-Tec opted for a gravitational setup for hygienic considerations, but also to minimize energy consumption. Innovation The customer demanded J-Tec to install a hoist with integrated loading cells above the FIBC discharging stations. You probably already know that J-Tec Material Handling builds turn-key process installations for the chemical and food industry for over 40 years. But… what do the words “turn-key process installations” actually cover? To provide a clear answer to this question and to make clear what J-Tec Material Handling its capabilities are, we’ve created a fictional installation and turned it into an animated movie.

A big international player in the dairy industry recently challenged J-Tec’s engineers to find a proper solution for mixing a hygroscopic and lightly hazardous product into liquids. A short summary of the installation: J-Tec installed its own hygienic and ergonomically designed bag dumping station for the discharging of the hazardous solids into the process flow. This slightly modified system has an integrated preparation tank which by means of an agitator creates a X% water/product solution. Next to the operator his comfort, his safety is guaranteed as well due to a highly efficient dedusting system. Because the area is classified as a “wet zone” J-Tec connected a wet scrubber to the dedusting system. This piece of equipment separates the polluted particles from the exhaust air excluding any form of contamination. Two years ago J-Tec opened its Asian headquarter in Bangkok, Thailand, and the investment is paying off. An exquisite example proving our success in Asia is a recent project we’ve realized for a well-known producer of cacao products. This client asked us to engineer and build a complete blending line in a production facility in Samutprakan, Thailand, near to Bangkok. Prefabricated installation for North Africa Being part of Katoen Natie, a world leader when it comes to port activities, logistics and semi-industrial services, has its advantages. Katoen Natie has over 4.8 million m² of warehouses located throughout 25 countries, worldwide. For example: A manufacturer asked us to engineer and build a blending line in a North-African country. The installation consists out of 4 main parts: dry material handling, CIP, kneading and bagging. CIP is the abbreviation of “cleaning in place” and stands for the cleaning of complete plant installations (pipeline circuits, hoppers, silo’s, etc…) without dismantling or opening any equipment. J-Tec designed a multifunctional mixing installation taking the EHEDG guidelines into account. This vertically build blending line does not need any pneumatic transport and works fully gravitational. Hygienic design Especially for the food industry, J-Tec`s R&D department designed a compact FIBC discharge station which incorporates a separate bag dump facility. As hygiene is of the utmost importance in the food industry, this unit was designed with the relevant EHEDG guidelines in mind. It is completely made out of stainless steel and can be delivered with an internal surface roughness of smaller than 3 µm. The rounded edges prevent product build-up in the unit, minimizing the risk of bacteriological contamination. FIBC discharge station: Thanks to the J-TEC FIBC discharge clamp, the dust-tight discharging of FIBCs is guaranteed. A vibrating dish promotes a positive product outflow, even for difficult products. J-TEC has designed a new Big Bag® discharge clamp that meets the strictest hygienic standards. The system is user-friendly, can be implemented in all hygienic zones and is easy to clean. It has no sharp corners, no external screw thread, and is entirely composed of smooth surfaces. All the hinges and sliding parts have bearings that are made out of high performance polymers. They are grease- and oilfree and hermetically sealed (protected against waterjet). This discharge system can be polished according to the customer’s wishes, and is available in SS304 and SS316. It can be implemented in a new installation, as well as in an existing installation.

Dust accumulation and work regulations concerning explosion safety and cleaning on the work floor often present a major challenge for companies. Last year a world player in the petrochemical industry was confronted with these issues, and started looking for a solution that could be implemented as a central vacuum cleaning system, as well as a pneumatic conveying system for the removal of residue from several storage facilities. J-TEC analyzed the problem and found the solution within its own standard production supply. The central vacuum cleaning unit was designed with J-TEC’s standard separator in mind. This separator was then equipped with all the required safety precautions, in accordance with Atex guidelines. The product to be conveyed has a minimum ignition energy of 1 millijoule.
