Globay sales strategy successful The pharmaceutical machine builder L.B. Bohle from Westphalia records huge success in South America thanks to the restructuring and expansion of the distribution network recently launched. Through the support of the two local agencies Maquidrex (Brazil) and Tecfarma (Argentinia), two new process machines – one Fluid Bed System and a Bohle Table Coater - were commissioned in the growth market of South America. The Bohle team installed a BFS 120 Bohle Uni Cone BUC® Fluid Bed System at the premises of the Brazil-based company Biolab. Biolab specialists visited the service center at Bohle headquarters in Ennigerloh and examined the quality of the process machine. Just six months later, the machine was commissioned at the Brazil site in Sao Paulo. Bohle extends graulation range With the BRC 25 roller compactor, which premiered at the Interpack 2014 in Düsseldorf, the machine builder L.B. Bohle Maschinen + Verfahren GmbH from Westphalia rounds off its offer of granulation solutions. The BRC 25 is the smaller version of the BRC 100 which has already proven itself on the market. Easy handling, continuous production and a small footprint are only some of the features of the roller compactor. Continuous dry granulation has been used in the pharmaceutical industry for decades. An advantage of the dry granulation process is that, in contrast to classic wet granulation, no energy-intensive drying processes are needed. The next opening ceremony is already firmly planned for the summer of 2014 – that of the Global Technology Center at its headquarters on Industriestrasse. The construction work for the new development, test and presentation center “is running absolutely according to plan and the building will be completed this December”, Managing Director Lorenz Bohle said. Granulation in a new dimension The German engineering company L.B. Bohle developed an elegant solution for a completely smooth running process in traditional granulation equipment. The new Compact Unit features a high-shear mixer and fluid bed dryer side by side, complete with sieving step in between. It has a very compact design. Not only has the width been reduced, but also the installation height is very low. For example, due to the unique lifter for the filter unit inside the BFS fluid bed, an opening in the concrete ceiling for installation of equipment can be avoided. There is no need for a long pneumatic cylinder which would protrude beyond the process tower. Furthermore, the inlet plenum features a reduced overall height. The new look of Granulation The new generation of fluid bed systems offers many exciting, new concepts. The Bohle BFS is suitable for drying, granulation, layering and pellet/particle coating without any optional modifications. This new processing design is much more robust than traditional Wurster technology. Due to the shift from top-spray technology to tangential-spray technology, the latest design of the BFS is extremely compact and reduced in overall height. Furthermore, a self-supporting structure without additional side bearings is incorporated to enable simple access and exterior cleaning. Spray nozzles are arranged tangential to the product bed and can be exchanged during the process from the outside. Variable and efficient With the development of the BFC 50 TriPan Coater, the needs for clinical batch production were considered. With the interchangeable coating pans, high flexibility is achieved with batch sizes ranging between 5 and 75 liters fill volume. Easy handling, secure application The BCK BOHLE Containment System is based on Split Valve Technology. An active and passive valve section is docked together allowing for a contained transfer point. For example, a typical application is to feed a tablet press with a potent product under high containment.
