Advantages of the Matcon manual cone valve over a butterfly valve
Four reasons not to use a butterfly valve for manufacturing spice mixes. Disadvantages of the Butterfly Valve; Advantages of the manual cone valve. In the food industry, quality control is paramount. This is particularly relevant in manufacturing dry spices, herbs, and seasoning products. Such dry mixes can have varying bulk densities and particle sizes, and therefore be prone to mix segregation after blending if they are not handled correctly. With the added complications of cleaning, cross-contamination, and the need to meet food hygiene standards such as FDA requirements, spice and seasoning mixing is a complex process that needs the right methods and equipment. What is a Butterfly Valve? Often used in food manufacture, the butterfly valve is used to control the flow of materials. The valve functions by completely opening or shutting as the disc rotates up to 90 degrees. In the case of spice and seasoning blends, it is commonly used to regulate the flow of dry materials, often from one process to another, such as after blending into a packing machine. Disadvantages of the Butterfly Valve # Not designed

Matcon Manual IBC Cone Valve: advancing powder discharge technology
Matcon released the Manual Cone Valve (MCV). Designed primarily to avoid problems with butterfly valve IBCs in the Food, Beverage and Chemical sectors. The original Cone Valve inventor and renowned for their innovative Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) Systems, Matcon released a new product in their range – the Manual Cone Valve (MCV). Designed primarily to help customers who experience problems with butterfly valve IBCs in the Food, Beverage and Chemical sectors. Effective alternative for butterfly valve The manually operated Cone Valve promotes mass-flow discharge of free-flowing powders, preventing segregation of powder mixes and ensuring product quality. It is tested and proven as an effective butterfly valve alternative, overcoming the issues of core flow and particle rolling that can be experienced with standard butterfly valves. Easy installation The Manual Cone Valve can be easily retrofitted to any existing flanged IBC outlet, providing a cost-effective way of delivering superior powder handling capabilities to an entire IBC fleet.
