KOCH Pipe Conveyor® for World`s Largest Power Plant Desulfurization Sys
KOCH Pipe Conveyor® for World`s Largest Power Plant Desulfurization Sys
It slices through the power plant, rises up to a 20 m high dam, then plummets back down, cuts 90° and 70° curves past a coal stockpile and then traces gentle arcs through the verdant, lush landscape: On this demanding route, KOCH is building a 1,366-meter-long double Pipe Conveyor. The transport system is part of the world`s largest CFB FGD power plant desulfurization system, which is being erected by Lentjes GmbH. The system will reduce the 3x305 MW power station`s SO2 emissions from 4200 mg/Nm3 to below 350 or even 200 mg/Nm3. Up to 280 t of power station residues will be loaded from the power station mixer onto the redundantly designed double conveyor system (300 mm diameter) and then transported to the landfill. The material – a moistened, fast-setting paste made up of CFB FGD product, flyash, water and cement – is hard to handle: It begins setting during transport, so the chutes, belt and transport speed all have to be carefully selected to prevent the…

EDF Power Station in Blénod, France: KOCH Pipe Conveyor Provides Ecologically Friendly Coal Transport
EDF Power Station in Blénod, France:
KOCH Pipe Conveyor Provides Ecologically Friendly Coal Transport More and more, communities living near power stations complain about trucks carrying coal to the plant: At EDF`s plant in Blénod, France, a KOCH Pipe Conveyor has solved this problem. Instead of delivering the coal for the 4x250 MW power station in 100 daily truck transports, the fuel is hauled directly by an enclosed system stretching from the unloading point to the coal stockpile. The KOCH Pipe Conveyor picks up the coal at the unloading dock on the Mosel River. The belt closes immediately after the material feeding point, and remains tightly shut throughout the entire transport. Along the 1.2 km route, the conveyor line cleaves closely to the land: It curves gently along the course of the Mosel River, springs over wetlands, a public road and a railroad system until it reaches the power station – without needing a single transfer point. At the wetlands, the posts are some 40 m apart to minimize the impact on the natural habitat. Nor did the Pipe Conveyor…

KOCH builds the world`s longest Pipe Conveyor
KOCH builds the world`s longest Pipe Conveyor
At present, KOCH Transporttechnik GmbH is building the world’s longest Pipe Conveyor with a total length of 8.2 km for Cementos Lima / Peru. The system has been designed for the bi-directional transport of different material types between the cement plant in Atoconga and the ship loading facility in Conchán Beach. The transport system will be transporting cement and clinker from the plant to the ship loading facility in the upper strand (690 t/h), and on the way back, it will convey coal and limestone, as well as iron ore, iron pellets, gypsum, etc., in the system’s lower strand (515 t/h). In parts, the conveying line between the plant and the ship loading pier winds through a rather busy infrastructure with numerous public roads. Consequently, the transport system will be installed in a specially build tunnel, over a distance of 6.5 km below the public road system. With its ability to follow horizontal and vertical curves with minimal radii, the KOCH…
