The AirScrape® conveyorskirting on a mission to assure quality in Europe

Sustainable solutions

The brands of a well-known, international manufacturer stand for sophisticated surfaces made of stone material in kitchens, bathrooms or on terraces. Searching for a sustainable solution to minimize emission at transferpoints of conveyor systems, the high-quality requirements led the company to the AirScrape® skirting from Germany.

The people responsible in the company had already heard and read about this special Conveyorskirting from Germany. Especially in a silicate conveying plant in southern Spain, a transfer was to be equipped with it on a test basis. Here the dust development and the strain on the employees were particularly high. Via the partner Masanes that provides the equipment with conveyor technology, contact was established with the manufacturer Scrapetec and the AirScrape® was installed at the selected transfer. The measurements of the dust development during the first test run showed a minimization of over 80 per cent. The customer was enthusiastic, "When the system started up, it could be seen that the silicate passed through cleanly at the transfer. Nothing came out of the gap between the belt and the skirting. Air is drawn in through the gap and the special lamellas by the running belt, so that nothing can escape. We understood the principle and recognized the advantages for us.” In the later course of the test phase, the measurements were repeated, and the values confirmed. What also convinced the people responsible was the contact-free operation of the skirting. This reduces the wear of the belts of the conveyor system as well as the costs for maintenance, repairs and new purchases. The test at a single transfer clearly showed all the advantages such as efficiency, economy, occupational safety, health and environmental protection, as well as sustainability. For this reason, material for AirScrape® skirtings is now being ordered at a further 60 transfer points in order to equip the entire conveyor systems of the whole plant. In this way, reliable key figures are to be created to convince the Executive Board to equip further plants at the transfers. All in the spirit of sustainability and quality - values that are important to the company.
