REMBE CO.Pilot Success Story – Saalemühle Alsleben
The early detection of fire hazards is one of the greatest challenges in milling operations. Enormous airflows and closed processes mean that smoke or heat often become noticeable only when it is already too late.
Saalemühle Alsleben, Germany’s largest family-run milling group, has partnered with REMBE to develop a solution. With the CO.Pilot, an innovative CO detection concept was implemented, based on highly sensitive laser absorption spectroscopy and differential measurements between the inlet and exhaust air. This approach filters out external interference and provides reliable real-time data.
The result was a breakthrough: the CO.Pilot detected the very first traces of carbon monoxide - clear indicators of incipient smouldering processes - long before conventional sensors would have reacted. The stable measurement curves made it possible to define safe alarm thresholds, initiate immediate protection measures, and prevent incidents before they could escalate.
This success story impressively demonstrates the key strength of the CO.Pilot: combining safety and efficiency in a single solution - protecting equipment, avoiding unplanned downtime, and proving that reliable early fire detection in mills is no longer a vision, but reality.
