SDTD single pipe plug diverter

Diverter valve SDTD-Cvalve can be used in both directions

The diverter valve SDTD-C contains a completely stainless steel body and plug making it suitable not only for diverting, but also for converging
A major producer of polypropylene and polyethylene granules needed diverter valves for conveying 48 up to 80 tons/hr, depending on the conveying distance. They preferred to use the SDTD diverter, due to its compact design.
However, at some locations the diverters also needed to be able to converge to allow a line change in the event of a production line failure. A bit like train tracks, where trains can change tracks in either direction.

Compact diverter valve

SDTD plug diverters are well known for their clever, value engineered design: the compact, single pipe design allows a large pipe diameter in relation to the size of the diverter. The standard SDTD version, however, is only suitable for diverting. It consists of an LM25 aluminium grade body and plug, lined with a 316 stainless steel tube, creating a rim at the inlet. This is no problem when diverting, but it would lead to product build-up when the diverter is used for converging.

Stainless steel body and plug

Our solution was to provide the diverter valve with a completely stainless steel body and plug, so that there is no edge at either the inlet or outlet. As a result, this SDTD-C can be used for both diverting AND converging, while maintaining the engineering advantages of a diverter with relatively small installation dimensions compared to its pipe size.

A nice example of creating Solutions beyond Bulk Handling.

Clever design of Big-Bag filling units for Van Delft Biscuits
The TBMA Big-Bag filling units play a key role in the internal handling during the spice nut production, and in coating these traditional delicacies with chocolate. Billions of ‘pepernoten’ (spice nuts) roll out of the ovens of Van Delft Biscuits every year. New is the in-house process line for coating traditional delicacies with chocolate. The TBMA Big-Bag filling units play a key role in the internal handling during the spice nut production. Engineering to the millimeter For Van Delft Biscuits, TBMA has supplied two Big-Bag filling units for handling spice nuts. The challenge was to fit the Big-Bag filling installation into the reasonably compact factory hall where a new coating machine is located. The available height was 4400 mm. Ultimately, TBMA managed to engineer a filling machine in which the two-meter-high big bag can be filled and weighed suspended, while there is also room for the more than one-meter high metal detector and an elevator belt. Above it is even a 30 cm space left for the operator to clean the installation. Filling the Big-Bag suspended has the advantage that the bag can be stretched and is filled

Vacuum conveying of sticky product at Campine Belgium
TBMA Belgium has supplied Campine with a bag dump cabinet with blow-through rotary valve, piping and Piab unit for the conveying of sticky products. Pre-testing in the TBMA test room showed that these products can be easily processed with vacuum conveying. Also, a smart solution was invented to prevent cross-contamination. Alternative for bag handling Campine in Beerse (Belgium) recycles industrial waste streams to make new raw materials. The company dismantles lead-based car batteries and is engaged in the recovery of metals. They also produce high-quality antimony trioxide as flame retardant synergist, raw material for pigments or catalyst for PET production. This makes the company a prominent player in the circular economy. Specifically for the plastic market, Campine produces masterbatches in which powdered additives are mixed in a carrier polymer. In this way, they relieve their customers when it comes to safe processing of dusty and ATEX-sensitive powders. To optimise their production process, Campine sought an alternative to pouring bags of additives directly into a gravimetric feeder. This refilling

TBMA Big bag filling line: safe, ergonomic, optimal filling
TBMA recently delivered a big bag filling line including pallet dispenser and conical vibrating table to a large chemical producer in the southern part of the Netherlands. The installation will be used for the packaging of raw materials for cleaning products and is part of an extensive TBMA system. Safe and ergonomic The filling line is supplied with, among other things, an operator platform incorporating a gate that can tilt forwards up to 15°. The trombone hooks come forward automatically so that the operator can easily suspend the big-bag in the machine. The hooks are self-releasing: the filled big-bag is raised slightly so that the loops are tension-free, allowing the hooks to be rotated, after which the bag is removed. This construction provides a safe, ergonomic and operator-adjustable workplace. The inflatable seal on the filling head also ensures a dust-free connection during filling. Optimal filling Each suspended big-bag is inflated for optimal filling. The conical vibrating table then ensures that the corners of the bag are filled first, creating a balanced loading of the big bag. The vibration cycles vent and compact
