Automatic External pole magnet for feed capacities up to 200 m3/hour

The automatic external pole magnet, recently developed by Goudsmit Magnetics, is suitable for processing large capacities of feed and other bulk goods.
The magnet shown at the Victam stand 1351 can be used for intake in ship unloading installations and serves to protect the machinery. Moulds, grinding and mixing equipment can be damaged by undesired metal particles. The external pole magnet is intended for coarse separation and separates parts larger than 2 mm. Magnetic bars are suitable for the separation of finer metal particles. Fully automatic cleaning is integrated into the process system and takes place at the push of a button, without the intervention of an operator. The low built-in height of 500 mm makes the system easy to build into existing installations.

Free fall line

Two powerful capturing magnets are mounted on the outside of the completely smooth casing and, depending on the version, separate coarse or very fine iron particles from various material streams. The outer core magnet is fitted with Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) magnets for mounting in free-fall lines. An advantage of this outer-core assembly is that no bridging or clogging of the material can take place on the inside. Since the valve box is fully integrated in the design, the installation height remains limited.

Application

Application of such magnets is in ship unloading installations, at intake, in filling lines or for loading silos. A pneumatic controller ensures cleaning of the magnet. This is started via a 24V-DC signal and then runs fully automatically. The external pole magnet is available in various versions up to an inlet/outlet of 300x1000 mm. It is suitable for large capacities up to 200 m3/hour.

Magnetic filter for paper pulp
Goudsmit Magnetics has recently made a series of magnetic filters that are suitable for removing baling wire from paper pulp. These steel wires hold bales of cellulose together and –when everything goes as it should– are removed before t This is done in an automated process followed by human inspection. In practice, the process is never perfect and steel wire still occasionally ends up in the paper pulp. This causes damage to the pulp processing equipment, as well as production downtime. Placing a magnet in the paper line prevents equipment damage, downtime and therefore significant losses. MAGNETIC FILTER The magnetic filters for paper pulp have a large bore for product flow, ranging from DN100 to DN400. This passage is completely surrounded with very strong magnetic bars with a high flux density (also referred to as the Gauss value), making it possible to capture the steel wire even at a relatively high flow rate. In addition, the magnetic insert is fitted with a sturdy guide and pneumatic rods, which simplifies handling for operators. This is not only ergonomic but also ensures that regular inspection takes place.” It is surprising that magnetic filters are not yet standard in paper lines.

Rotating magnet cleans powder without stopping production
Goudsmit Cleanflow drawer magnets are magnetic grid separators with strong neodymium magnetic bars. They filter small ferrous contaminants (down to 30 µm) from powders and granulates in free-fall and low-pressure transport pipes. Goudsmit Magnetics, based in Waalre in the Netherlands, recently launched a rotating Cleanflow magnetic separator suitable for installation in free-fall lines in a continuous process. Cleaning takes place without stopping the product flow - an explicit request from a customer who wanted to recycle cans of milk powder in a continuous process. During the cleaning cycle, the magnets stay in the product flow. This guarantees the user that no iron falls back into the product during cleaning, something that was regularly a problem with other systems. The unit can be used in the chemical, ceramic, plastic and recycling industries, among others. In the latter case, it is used to make plastic or rubber granules metal-free. Operation The magnetic bars in the Cleanflow magnetic separator filter metal particles and paramagnetic particles from 30 µm out of powders and granular products. The separator is suitable for high capacity product flows (up to approximately 60 m3/hour)

The value of magnetic flux density for magnetic separators
The operation of a magnetic separation system is often judged with magnetic field measurements. But this is not the whole story. We often determine the degree of operation of a magnetic separation system using magnetic field measurements. In that case, we measure the magnetic flux density at one or more places in the separator. Determine separation capacity We regularly use these measurements – consciously or unconsciously – as the only measure for the separation capacity of magnetic separators. In specific situations, these measurements can provide a sufficient picture thereof, such as for determining the decrease in magnetic force – and therefore separation power – of a specific separator over time. Or to compare the performance of two or more of the same types of separators that are used under the same process conditions. More than flux density measurements In general, however, this is not the case and we have to include more aspects than just flux density measurements when determining the separation power of a magnetic separator. This is explained in this document.

Solae removes metal contaminants from soya powder residue with a magnet Remove very small stainless steel and iron particles
Solae removes metal contaminants from soya powder residue with a magnet
Remove very small stainless steel and iron particles Solae Belgium N.V., a Dupont company, recently introduced a new type of magnetic separator in their powder line; the Easy cleanflow magnet from Goudsmit Magnetics of Waalre (NL). This magnet checks soya powder for metal contaminants, such as stainless steel wear particles. The metal particles get into the product as a result of friction at the dryer drum and are absolutely undesirable. No operator needed Solea`s design requirements for the magnetic separator were that no operator would be required and that cleaning of the unit could be performed safely and efficiently. The unit also had to be dust-tight, food-proof and fitted with food-safe EC1935 seals. The magnetic separator placed under the vibrating sieve meets all the requirements and removes minuscule metal particles and weakly magnetic stainless steel particles as small as 30 µm from powders. How the magnet works. Stainless steel particles Solae is a food producer and, among other things, they process a residue

Magnetic separator for large product flows Automatically cleanable magnet removes metal and stainless steel particles from powders
Magnetic separator for large product flows
Automatically cleanable magnet removes metal and stainless steel particles from powders The automatically cleanable ‘Easy Clean flow’ magnet from Goudsmit Magnetics of Waalre recently underwent a redesign. This magnetic separator removes metal particles and weakly magnetic stainless steel particles from powders as fine as 30 µm in the food, chemical, ceramic and plastic industries. The Easy Clean flow magnet is suitable for large product flows and distinguishes itself by the very high magnetic flux density of over 12,000 gauss at the contact surface of the bars. These bars come into direct contact with the product and have a deeply penetrating magnetic field that effectively makes powders and granulates metal-free at high flow rates. The magnet is dustproof to an overpressure of 0.5 bar and has a simple electro-pneumatic controller. The user-friendly cleaning requires 6 bar air and 24 VDC start signals. High separation yield The thick, Ø50 mm magnetic bars provide a very high separation yield, have a deep holding field and a high flux density. This
