Sustainability and resource efficiency in pressure relief
At ACHEMA, Bormann & Neupert by BS&B is presenting the first ”green” reverse rupture disk for industrial applications - also for the increasingly important market of hydrogen applications.
Whether alternative drives for the vehicle fleet or a photovoltaic system on the company building - the highly topical trend towards greater sustainability as well as environmental and climate protection also has many manifestations in the business environment. Sustainably manufactured components for plant, equipment and machinery are another building block for greater sustainability in the process industry. With the new LSR reverse rupture disc, Bormann & Neupert by BS&B now offers the first ”green” pressure relief for industrial applications in new and existing installations.
The LSR manufacturing process is consistently designed for low resource consumption, reduced CO2 emissions and low energy requirements. For example, no water is used in the production of the rupture disk, the packaging consists exclusively of recyclable cardboard and the one-piece design significantly reduces the amount of material required. The BS&B production facilities have environmental management certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1400-2015.
Resistant to highly corrosive media and hydrogen
The vacuum and back pressure-resistant reverse rupture disc also enables maximum efficiency in functional terms: available in nominal widths from 25 to 150 millimetres, LSR is primarily designed for low and medium response pressures from 0.14 bar to 20 bar - including for insulating pressure relief valves. In the event of critical overpressure, it releases the full relief cross-section immediately and without fragmentation. It is suitable for liquid, gaseous and multiphase media.
In addition to 316 stainless steel - for use in production, processing or the storage and transportation of hydrogen, for example - Bormann & Neupert by BS&B offers the LSR in numerous other materials. For example, variants made of Hastelloy or Inconel are also available for use in contact with corrosive chlorine gas or acid gases. Inconel as a material even allows process temperatures of up to almost 600 °C (1,100 °F). Versions with PTFE or FEP non-stick coatings are also available.
All versions are technically leak-free and can withstand process pressures of up to 90 percent of the set pressure. On request, the CE-marked LSRs are also available with ASME UD marking in the manufacturing tolerances 0 percent, -5 percent and -10 percent. As a system provider for industrial pressure relief systems, Bormann & Neupert by BS&B also offers the corresponding rupture disk holders for quick and easy installation. Pre-assembled assemblies and a special design always guarantee error-free, ideal positioning and precise alignment.
Sustainability offensive launched
With the LSR rupture disk, the globally active industrial supplier BS&B is taking another important step towards more sustainable processes at its production sites. The EcoVadis rating, which BS&B is currently undergoing, provides clients with additional transparency and a guarantee of the qualified implementation of the sustainability strategy.
ACHEMA 2024
In addition to its ”green” LSR reverse rupture disc, Bormann & Neupert by BS&B GmbH will also be presenting other future-oriented products for industrial plant safety and pressure relief at ACHEMA 2024 - such as tank protection fittings and solutions for valve automation.
