Representation of TBMA in Germany: Bechtel GmbH

TBMA Europe BV and Bechtel GmbH partner up for the northern German bulk solids market

Partner for further growth

TBMA Europe is very pleased to introduce Bechtel GmbH as its new representative for the North German market. Bechtel is a renowned name in the German bulk solids industry and supplies parts for elevators, chain conveyors and screw conveyors. Customers from the postcode regions D-00000 to D-34000, D-40000 to D-53000 and D-60000 to D-62000 can now contact Bechtel for TBMA rotary valves and diverter valves.

Bart Houben, Managing Director of TBMA Europe: ”TBMA has been active in Germany for decades. In order to grow, we were looking for a partner who knows and can proactively develop the market. We are very happy with the collaboration with Bechtel and are ready to together further market the TBMA products in Germany.

We have been supplying high-end rotary and blow-through valves to the international solids handling industry for over 50 years and we now also have an interesting range of diverter valves. In addition, there is a great deal of technical knowledge and process know-how within TBMA that Bechtel can use to optimally advise customers on the application of these components.”

Clever design of Big-Bag filling units for Van Delft Biscuits
The TBMA Big-Bag filling units play a key role in the internal handling during the spice nut production, and in coating these traditional delicacies with chocolate. Billions of ‘pepernoten’ (spice nuts) roll out of the ovens of Van Delft Biscuits every year. New is the in-house process line for coating traditional delicacies with chocolate. The TBMA Big-Bag filling units play a key role in the internal handling during the spice nut production. Engineering to the millimeter For Van Delft Biscuits, TBMA has supplied two Big-Bag filling units for handling spice nuts. The challenge was to fit the Big-Bag filling installation into the reasonably compact factory hall where a new coating machine is located. The available height was 4400 mm. Ultimately, TBMA managed to engineer a filling machine in which the two-meter-high big bag can be filled and weighed suspended, while there is also room for the more than one-meter high metal detector and an elevator belt. Above it is even a 30 cm space left for the operator to clean the installation. Filling the Big-Bag suspended has the advantage that the bag can be stretched and is filled

Vacuum conveying of sticky product at Campine Belgium
TBMA Belgium has supplied Campine with a bag dump cabinet with blow-through rotary valve, piping and Piab unit for the conveying of sticky products. Pre-testing in the TBMA test room showed that these products can be easily processed with vacuum conveying. Also, a smart solution was invented to prevent cross-contamination. Alternative for bag handling Campine in Beerse (Belgium) recycles industrial waste streams to make new raw materials. The company dismantles lead-based car batteries and is engaged in the recovery of metals. They also produce high-quality antimony trioxide as flame retardant synergist, raw material for pigments or catalyst for PET production. This makes the company a prominent player in the circular economy. Specifically for the plastic market, Campine produces masterbatches in which powdered additives are mixed in a carrier polymer. In this way, they relieve their customers when it comes to safe processing of dusty and ATEX-sensitive powders. To optimise their production process, Campine sought an alternative to pouring bags of additives directly into a gravimetric feeder. This refilling

Safe rotary valve for toxic process gases
TBMA has developed a smart and safe rotary valve for production using chlorine gas: highly aggressive and dangerous to life. Titanium dioxide can be produced in several ways. One of the methods uses chlorine gas. This gas is highly aggressive and dangerous to life. A rotary valve for this process must therefore meet extremely high requirements. A challenge for which TBMA has developed a smart and safe solution. Even stainless steel AISI 316 is not resistant to the yellow-green, very aggressive chlorine gas (Cl2) that is used for the production of titanium dioxide (TiO2). The installation components must therefore be manufactured from an even higher quality material. This also applies to the high-end, flameproof H-AR350 drop-through rotary valve from TBMA in the process. It is made from a very special alloy of (among others) nickel, chrome, molybdenum and niobium. This material has excellent resistance to various corrosive media - including chlorine gas - and is resistant to high pressure. Pressure chamber The chlorine gas is not only aggressive but also extremely poisonous. A leak

Spindle for rail valve DG350 Larger sizes of drop-through rotary valves are supplied with an extra spindle for optimal safe and smooth (dis)assembly.
Spindle for rail valve DG350
Larger sizes of drop-through rotary valves are supplied with an extra spindle for optimal safe and smooth (dis)assembly. Early 2021, we assembled this DG350 drop-through rotary valve with extra spindle. The standard construction of our DG350 valve is extremely rugged: the bare shaft valve weighs 500 kg. Given the considerable weight of the rotor, we supply sizes larger than 300 with an extra spindle for optimal safe and smooth (dis)assembly. TBMA DG Quick-Clean TBMA DG Quick-Clean drop-through and blow-through rotary valves are specially designed for processes where frequent cleaning and inspection are required. The self-seeking spline shaft allows quick and easy remounting of the rotor after cleaning. Thanks to the clearance-free suspension and fixed adjustment, damage to the rotor tips and/or inside of the valve during (dis)assembly is limited to a minimum. In addition, the shaft seal cannot be damaged, since the spindle with spline remains in place when the rotor is pulled out.
