Masterpack Group is a leading developer in high-end packaging solutions. With nearly 100 years of experience, we differentiate ourselves from our competitors by choosing not to be a “one size fits all” producer.
From the most delicate products in the food- and pharmaceutical industry to the extremes in materials and conditions in mining and chemicals: we are able to pack and protect it. With our FIBC’s and service we create the opportunity for you to pack and transport your products. Working with the Masterpack Group entails that this can be done in the most efficient and responsible way.

The safety and quality of your products is our main concern. Factors to consider selecting modified atmosphere packaging materials
Choosing the materials for your FIBC is just as important as composing the right mixture of gases for Modified Atmosphere Packaging. In this article, we’ll look at all the factors to keep in mind when choosing your bag. What are big bags made of? In general, FIBCs for Modified Atmosphere are made of polypropylene, also known as polypropene. This is a thermoplastic polymer, which is made via chain-growth polymerization made from the combination of propylene monomers. That doesn’t mean that all FIBCs are one-size-fits-all though. With liners and coating, but also with the make-up of specific bags, you can make sure that your MAP bag is a perfect fit for your product. Here’s which factors you should keep in mind. Barrier properties The most obvious factor to consider is the barrier properties. The packaging material should have good barrier properties to prevent the infiltration of oxygen, moisture, and other gases that can cause spoilage and discoloration of the food. This can be as simple as checking whether a powder will not leak through a bag, but one should also consider what can get in the bag. Permeability Permeability is the rate at which gases can pass through

New: FIBC with 30% recycled material
Our favorite type of news to share is successes in sustainability. We are proud to announce a major milestone in our commitment to creating more sustainable products. FIBCs made of recycled material We have developed a new type of FIBC that is made of 30% recycled material, making it one of the most environmentally-friendly options on the market. The outer bag of the FIBC is partially made from recycled polypropylene (RPP), a thermoplastic polymer that is widely used in many different applications. Despite being made of recycled material, these bags remain just as strong and safe as the traditional ones. This is a testament to our commitment to producing high-quality products that meet the needs of our customers. The challenges and certification While there is currently no food safety certification for these bags, the market is actively working on obtaining it.*NEWLINE*The challenge with RPP is its limited availability, but we are committed to finding sustainable solutions for its customers and we are exploring alternative materials that meet our high standards for strength and safety. Equipment needed for creating Modified Atmosphere in Packaging
The key to creating a modified atmosphere in FIBCs is using the right equipment. Protects from microorganisms, such as bacteria and molds, as well as insects and rodents A modified atmosphere in FIBCs (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers) can be beneficial for a number of reasons. It helps to protect the contents from microorganisms, such as bacteria and molds, as well as insects and rodents. In addition, it can also extend the shelf life of processed goods, such as food products or pharmaceuticals. But what equipment do you need to create this modified atmosphere? Let’s take a look at the essential pieces of equipment necessary for creating a modified atmosphere in FIBCs, all supplied by Somsix. The key equipment to create MAP First, the liner spout needs to be sealed with the Automatic Spout Sealer. After positioning the spout in the seal mouth, the sealing process is running automatically. The most important piece of equipment you’ll need is a Vacuum and Gas Injection Machine, which removes air from the container after it’s sealed. After the air has been removed from the container, nitrogen or carbon dioxide gas can be

Masterpack Group winner of Packaging Innovation Award
Masterpack Group is the winner of ”De Gouden Noot 2022”, the world’s most competitive packaging innovation contest. Masterpack Group is proud to have won the award with its sustainable packaging solution: Modified Atmosphere Technology, Packaging Innovation Contest De Gouden Noot (“The Golden Walnut”) has developed into the world’s most competitive packaging innovation contest. With this contest, NVC Netherlands Packaging Centre stimulates holistic innovation in packaged products and packaging. About the contest The contest gets its name from the unique trophy containing a solid gold walnut, symbol of sustainable, effective and innovative packaging. The Packaging Innovation contest had no subcategories; all entries will be assessed in their entirety on their overall innovativeness. The judging has taken place in two rounds. The jury is independent and its members cover all aspects of packaging. The last jury round - with only 10 candidates left - took place in the A’DAM tower in Amsterdam on October 6, 2022. Prevent waste with Somsix sensors and smart monitoring
Masterpack and Somsix developed smart sensors for non-invasive monitoring the closed environment (Modified Atmosphere) inside big bags. Keeping an eye on what is happening inside a bag after it’s been filled is crucial to the success of Modified Atmosphere, but it also prevents waste and adds to sustainability. But with Modified Atmosphere being what it is (a closed environment) it is hard to track the state of the atmosphere without damaging it. That’s why we developed in close cooperation with Somsix smart sensors for non-invasive monitoring. Let’s look at some of the solutions we offer. The challenge: keep the oxygen levels inside the Big Bag below 1% at all times, and monitor this frequently – which is impossible when opening the bag. The solution: non-invasive sensors that measure every 6 hours and send data to an easy-to-use dashboard. Somsix sensors and monitoring categories MA Sensors for FIBCs - We created patented applied sensors for remote monitoring of oxygen, temperature and humidity. They enable you to have 100% control of your bags, even remotely, helping you to prevent

Keep your products safe with Masterpack
Masterpack have extensive experience in dealing with delicate products in many industries. Masterpack works with Class 10.000 and Class 100.000 Cleanrooms, which is the equivalent of ISO 7 and ISO 8. More than just clean Cleanrooms play a big part in our production process and are a big factor in keeping food and pharmaceutical products safe. In this blog, we explain more about Cleanrooms and how they make a difference in our packaging solutions. A different kind of clean A cleanroom is defined in the ISO standard 14644-1 as: “A room in which the concentration of airborne particles is controlled, and which is constructed and used in a manner to minimize the introduction, generation, and retention of particles inside the room and in which other relevant parameters, e.g. temperature, humidity, and pressure, are controlled as necessary” In other words, it is a facility ordinarily utilized for industrial production or scientific research. They are designed to maintain extremely low levels of particulates such as dust, airborne organisms or vaporized particles, keeping products and technology safe. Cleanrooms are therefore not only used for packaging purposes.
