The Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) takes a technological approach to the conversion of waste heat into power. Press-insertion devices for handheld and stationary assembly tasks If you have ever punched a hole in a cover or pushed a tack or pin in a wall then you will know how much stress it causes your thumbs. It can be painful if your thumb is strained like this repeatedly over time. There are many applications in industrial production where it is often left to workers to push together fastening elements by hand in order to attach two components. Fitters may repeat the movements hundreds of times per day. For automotive assembly, interior trim is predominantly attached using trim clips, plastic expanding rivets or push-fit panel pins. Shoe manufacture made simple The manufacture of footwear goes back a long way in history: Even 40,000 years ago humans felt the need to protect their feet from adverse outdoor conditions. Several hundred centuries passed however, before the modern aesthetic footwear of the present was developed and consequently also manifold procedures for the manufacture of shoes. Whereas in the pre-industrial era shoes were crafted by shoemakers, today shoe manufacture is largely an industrial process. Nevertheless, the manual aspect of production is still a significant part of the process. The manufacture process is composed of three key sections: development and design, manufacture of shoe uppers and the actual shoe production. First, a sketch of the shoe is created, pattern pieces for the various upper parts are made and the shoe lasts are manufactured. In order to design the most optimal motor for your individual machine, amongst other things, the torque and speed must be defined. It pays to make an exact calculation. Innovative screwdriving system for vehicle bodywork production Whereas in the past, steel sheets were easy to join by spot welding or resistance welding, today this is no longer economical due to the modern material mix. The automobile industry is under pressure from legal requirements to reduce CO2 emissions, use lightweight construction and consequently to find alternative joining methods. Where access to both sides of the connection point is available this can be done using rivets. If however only one side is accessible then the well-established direct screwdriving flow form principle comes into use. A flow form screw is positioned on an aluminium or steel sheet without pre-drilled holes and the screwdriving process begins. Solving the problem of fluctuating production rates and short life cycles Old heating pumps are secret power guzzlers. Few people think about these hidden “service providers” when seeking to save on electricity. Even with oil and gas heating systems, electric pumps ensure that hot water circulates from the boiler to the radiators and the hot water points. Many old pumps operate round the clock, even if no water is being heated or drawn off. On the other hand, modern, intelligent heating pumps only switch on when they are needed. That represents an energy saving of up to 70 percent. The new generation of pumps - known as ultra-efficient pumps (energy efficiency class A) - uses 400 - 700 kilowatt hours less energy. A consignment of carefully packed components for a new assembly system is leaving the DEPRAG factory in Amberg. Behind it lie 14 weeks of work - from the date of the order to acceptance - and it is now on its way to the customer. Systems engineer Markus Solfrank loves his “constantly exciting” job. And as the brand new assembly system leaves the factory gates, his satisfaction in having done a good job is tinged with a little sadness. It will take another six hours for the client’s service personnel to assemble the compact rotary indexing machine - it measures less than four metres in every dimension - and put it into operation. Once complete, the semi-automatic assembly unit will start assembling high quality door fittings. “In a cycle time of under ten seconds it joins the door hinges, monitors them for quality and sends them on, ready for packing”, said Markus Solfrank, as he explained

When all of the above items are machined, any sharp edges, burrs, fraying or chips produced during the manufacturing process need to have the edges smoothed and chips removed in a deburring process. Anywhere cutting processes such as turning, milling, drilling or thread-cutting are involved, the manufacturing process will almost always also include a deburring stage on the workpiece. During the selection of an air-motor for the automated technology, especially its small size and mass are convincing advantages. An air-motor offers notable significance in both areas.
